A must buy for whelping dogs
My German Shepherd gave birth to 11 puppies and I wanted to have something to support her system and the puppies through it. I really wasn’t sure what to get so this popped up. I thought it was worth a try. IT WAS AMAZING! She was on her last 2 puppies and was EXHAUSTED and extremely irritated and even a bit hostile when I tried to assist in clean up. I gave her a dose (she’s 80lbs b4 pregnancy) after the last pup. It was a game changer! She felt better, had more energy, and was not longer irritable or snippy. I will absolutely be buying more for the coming days!!

    Helped my puppy
Purchased puppy version after a few days that my puppy didn’t want to eat her wet food anymore. This helped tremendously, we switched her wet food and started this as a supplement and she did great after 2 days. It’s a big syringe, really sturdy.

    Helped our not eating cat
Yeah, forget the directions to dab a little on a paw and let the cat lick it off. My cat was horrified at being smudged. She wouldn’t lick it off a plate either. I didn’t like taking a glob and shoving it into her mouth, and you should’ve seen her incredibly unhappy and disgusted face the one time I did.I got this to increase the calories my cat took in during a time she was too sick to eat well or enough. On that count, it’s fine and does offer calories and some nutrients. The issue is getting it into your cat. This stuff is thick- you can’t syringe it in, and it doesn’t mix into food easily. What I ended up doing was putting a teaspoon of this and a teaspoon and a half of baby food in a tiny container and microwaving it 8 seconds. Then I could stir it all together, let it cool and syringe feed it.All the high calorie gels have questionable ingredients that you probably wouldn’t want to give your cat long term but this stuff *did* help keep weight on my cat til she recovered sufficiently to eat more on her own. At the same time I used this, I also tried the Tomlyn brand. I prefer that one – it’s far easier to get out of the tube and (after heating with some baby food) it mixed better. It’s also less expensive and not in a big inconvenient container like Under the Weather.I also tried Richard’s Organics which was thicker than the Tomlyn or Under the Weather. It was the hardest to squeeze out of the tube and more difficult to mix in.I’m definitely not a veterinarian but as a consumer I’d suggest that any high calorie gel is probably not enough to keep your cat going, even if you follow the directions. It certainly won’t fill an empty belly (which must be uncomfortable) or keep them eliminating regularly. Not eating can become habitual so stop it fast. What we did for our 8 pound cat: Got some of the Gerber (meat only) “2nd foods” for “sitters” (on the label). They have:TurkeyChickenHamBeefRead labels. In most other brands, the calories are lower per jar.You can also easily heat, mix and syringe with Hill’s A/D diet as it’s liquidy and nutritious. You need a prescription for this food from your vet.Even mixing a teaspoon of the gel with 1 1/2 teaspoons of food, you end up with a bunch of syringes of food. You look at it all and wonder how you can possibly get it into your pet, so many little syringes.Hey, it’s your pet’s life. Get someone to help if you can. Wrap that baby up in a towel or blanket like a burrito. Put the burrito on a towel or sheet you don’t care about to catch any droppings. Gently lift the side of the lip and get the food in there 1 ml at a time. Chase with some water syringes at the end. It’s not fun but it may keep your pet alive. We’ve done this twice a day now for 10 weeks. Our girl is just now starting to get back to more regular eating and moving around again. Worth it? Definitely. This is NOT intended as veterinary advice. If you have a vet who’ll give you feeding guidelines, follow that advice. Our cat had 2 different vets (regular vet and internal medicine specialist) and neither one had any ideas. I’m just saying what we came up with and apparently worked. Best wishes to you with your pet.

    Saved my little Coco
I don’t usually write reviews but I need to tell everyone this product has been a life saver for my little Yorkie. He just doesn’t like to eat he had not been eating for a few days no matter what I did I was so worried, didn’t have the money to spend hundreds at the vet in desperate I started searching Amazon for some thing that would open his appetite and I could get something in him. I read the reviews and ordered this product to be delivered asap which it arrived the same day at 9pm, my baby was weak and just didn’t want to do anything we were just waiting for this to come in we gave him the first does at 9:05pm, I kid you not by 10:30 pm he was a different dog he got up went outside to do his business and I offered him his favorite treat, which he would not take in days, he ate his treat and even had I small piece of chicken, so yes under.the weather saved my Coco. Thank you for making this product, can’t say enough about it. Thank you Thank you, thank you

    Life saver
One of the best products you can find for your dog! My Chihuahua was very weak because she kept throwing up everything she ate. I found this, and it truly helped her recover. Highly recommend it!

    So far so good…
Ordered in an emergency yesterday and I received it today. My 22 year old, black tabby presented with diarrhea and she totally quit eating 5 days ago – after a couple days of trying with her, I put her in a make-shift hospital environment on heat and force fed her pureed chicken and rice with egg and broth for water. In a desperate search I found this product here on Amazon and ordered it. She has a habit of turning up her nose if she decides she doesn’t again want what I’ve been feeding her. She’s super thin from this bout of not eating (down to about 5lbs) and possible pancreatitis so I gave her half the regular dose because she’s a small cat and only weighed about 7.5 to 8 lbs. when she was young and healthy. I was worried she would not eat it, but I put a half teaspoon full on my finger and she almost took my finger off once she got the flavor. It was very easy and straight forward to dispense the dark, thick, gel from the giant syringe dispenser. I squirted it into a measuring spoon first and then scooped it onto my finger from the spoon to avoid cross-contamination. It’s also shelf stable without refrigeration for 2 years even after its opened which makes it even more valuable to me because my other feline fur babies could use it too if needed. Here’s to a hopeful recovery for my Midnight girl. Thanks Under the Weather for making this. You may have saved my girl’s life today.
