Completely blown away!
We first ordered one for our Boston Mix who has developed major anxiety to storms/loud noises. He weighs about 40lbs and his chest circumference is 25″, so he is right at the top end of the Medium. It fits him perfectly, as he is barrel-chested and not very long, so there is no issue with the rubbing on his male parts. It makes him very cozy and sleepy, which does help him relax during a storm, but he still runs to hide in the closet if the thunder is loud. It hasn’t made him immune to the thunder, but I do think it keeps him comfortable. We usually leave it on him longer than necessary because he’s so cozy!We ordered one for our other dog, though, and it is crazy how calm it makes her. To the point of worrying if she’s okay! She is a Red Heeler (but she is taller and longer than most with a skinnier body), weighs 45lbs and she is significantly longer than our Boston so we ordered her a large. She is definitely on the small side for Large, it wraps around her quite far, but when we tried the medium some of the rough velcro was exposed against her skin. If she was a male the large might be too long, as it comes nearly to back legs, so depending on your dog you may need to get a smaller size and just cover any exposed velcro. Luckily, Thundershirt has a good return policy. Our Red Heeler has no problem with storms or noises, but she has constant energy and physically can not sit still. She’s 9 and still wears us out! When we put the Thundershirt on her, she is completely calm. We are realizing that energy was more of an anxious/nervous energy, and she seems to get overstimulated. Sometimes she will just sit there barking at us because we aren’t doing what she wants, or aren’t in the right place (may be a herding dog thing). With her shirt on she will sweetly lay with her head in our laps and take a nap, which has never happened. I would never have thought to get her a shirt for nervous energy since she didn’t show anxiety triggers, but now I am recommending it to everyone! It helps calm her down when she is overstimulated and helps us not go crazy. We’ve had it for a couple of weeks and we are still in shock every single time because the change is unbelievable.I chose the sport version because I did not want the dogs to overheat, especially since anxiety causes our Boston to be hotter anyway. It has a bit of stretch and breathes, and it is very well made. When you have the proper size it is designed to not have any of the hook side of the Velcro against their skin. I especially love the extra flap on top for tightening. I looked at other anxiety shirts and reviews said how hard they were to get on since you just had one shot to get it correct. With this, I loosely fasten around their neck just so it doesn’t fall off, then I align and velcro the shirt together under the chest/stomach. The flap allows me to then adjust and make it more snug after it is already secured, rather than wrestling with pulling the fabric correctly and keeping it in the right place. Finally, I redo the neck, making sure it sits low on the chest and isn’t too tight.I HIGHLY recommend this for any dogs that have that nervous energy or get overstimulated, that is where it has been most effective for us. I do suggest it for more “typical” anxieties as well, it has helped cut out the anxious pacing and shaking, but it’s not a miracle cure (at least for us) that makes them immune to those triggers. Definitely worth trying, we are kicking ourselves for not getting one years ago!

Works perfect
Cookie would start barking once it got dark and would not stop until I would go to bed. With the thunder jacket she has not barked. She is very relaxed. At first it was difficult to put on as she was so excited. Now after a week of wearing it she standa there with no problem when putting on her jacket.Highly recommended

Great Product!
I was skeptical about this shirt, but thought I would try it. My dog is really scared of thunder and fireworks and takes medicine for these situational stressors, but most times we canât predict when these events will occur. This shirt is great for when we need quicker solution. It calms him down, he doesnât shake and has also fallen asleep in it. It is easy to put on and take off. The only con is that I wish the bottom of the shirt was cut little shorter because he is a male dog, cut like with typical dog sweaters or jackets so he could wear it outside for potty breaks. The size chart also seems spot on!

Awesome – Tested – True
I have an exuberant 70 lb American Husky/Canadian Inuit three year old doggie. He has an eye condition and requires daily multiple eye drops as well as frequent eye-vet visits. His eyes are responding super well to meds – thankfully! I was tired of “crocodile wrestling” with him to get the drops in – i wanted a better way. I put this ThunderShirt (Sport) on before his eye vet visit today and he was much calmer, even though we didn’t have time to squeeze in a walk beforehand and had a significant wait to see the doc. Impressed with the results, we then went to see his regular vet to get new RX for heartguard and blood testing. He mingled with the staff in a nice, pleasant way (he didn’t knock anyone over!). Everyone mentioned he was much calmer. We had a ThunderShirt before when he was younger – the regular one. We LOVE the Sports version (fabric much nicer with air holes). Feels nice, looks great (platnium and orange). Best of all – it works! He will only wear it to vet visits and whilst i give him his meds (AM/PM). Too tight otherwise (may impede his breathing/overheat summer). We’re both happy! TY!

Works like a charm, and looks great.
Edit: Less than a month of wearing this and the stitching has come undone. Love the product, but the quality has me debating whether or not it’s worth it to purchase this product again.2 1/2 year old German shepherd mum here… My girl has high anxiety and pants, paces, and barks all the time and usually requires medication to calm down, which I hate giving to her. She put this on and instantly there was a reduction in all of her anxiety behaviors, no more panting and pacing. Took her out for a walk, and while still excited she was much calmer. It was like she remembered her obedience classes all of a sudden. After 24 hours she is already very attached and gets visibly upset when taken off. I wish we had gotten this sooner and it will be a mandatory item for any future pups I have. I’m excited to see how we can conquer her anxieties with this. The fushia color is so vibrant and great for visibility. Even if the calming effect didn’t work, I’d still have kept it for a hiking vest. We played fetch with it on with no issues and she stood out like a highlighter in our yard. The material is soft and durable, held up in the rain, and doesn’t hold dog hair either. The Velcro surprised me because the design minimizes the amount of dog hair that it captures there as well. The fit is absolutely perfect. My girl is on the smaller side for a GSD at 72lbs with a neck measurement of around 16″ and chest depth of about 30″, and 28″ long back. We got an XL and I couldn’t have asked for a better fit. If your pups chest is deeper than about 34″, I would recommend the next size.I hope that knowing her measurements will help her GSD cousins and other deep chested or long bodied pups in the future.

UPDATE: How do you know for sure this works? When your dog ASKS for it! She paws at a metal garbage can, near where her shirt is kept, and will keep pawing until she has her shirt!!!We have a rescue Aussie who was to be euthanized at 6 mths as she was “psychotic”. She’s come a massively long way, but loud noises and handling are still challenging. Not only does this help during fireworks and thunder, it has made a huge difference when clipping nails, or dealing with burrs in her ears, tail and leg fringes, and what we use I for most frequently! Who knew it was grooming aid!!!This is not a complaint, but a suggestion, would love the ability to add a “top coat” made from more durable material, for outdoor use. I worry the brush would damage it; at this price point, not something I’m willing to risk.Does it work, have to say yes, significant improvement, enough that I bought several more for our other rescues and found them useful for all sorts of anxiety/barking type issues. Is it a cure, no. Does it allow the dog to tolerate “more”, absolutely. At the very least, try them, they are returnable if it’s a fail for you. So far, its Aussie, MinPin, Frenchton and Pom approved!

I purchased this my in laws dog as the past couple of years she has really struggled with fireworks. The night I purchased it she was a nervous wreck, shaking, pacing and crying. They were really concerned for her.I ordered this and they put it on her the following night. They said even though the fireworks were worse than the night before she was much calmer and even had a nap. She wore it every evening until the end of the bonfire celebrations and there was a big difference to before she had the jacket. She is an overweight lab and had size XL
