My cat loves it — It is her second!
I first tried buying the leading seller out here, but I had to return. The heating element there is only in the middle and not all throughout. My cat didn’t use it. But she loves this one!Sometimes we use one of them to keep her food warm, if she does not eat it right away. This cat mat gets a lot of use!

Solid heating mat. Has cover, but added a pillow cover too.
My indoor cat claimed this mat instantly. My outdoor cats took a little longer to trust it. As soon as the first cold rain came, they went into their house and found warm refuge. Now they love it. It’s what I was searching for. Well done Sunbeam.

wish they had a 4 3/4 star rate great pad, wrong dimensions
The temps where I am have been zero and well below. There is a stray cat wandering which I can’t catch but shows up for food. I made a shelter box for him on my patio which he used but as the temps kept dropping, I knew it would not be enough to keep him safe. I searched and found this pad is certified for outdoor use so ordered it. It arrived on the estimated date. I plugged the metal wrapped cord in (metal coiled around it to prevent chewing) and set a weight on it to be sure it worked. As stated, it began to warm with pressure. The pad size stated on the Amazon site description says 16 x 19″, the box says 13 x 19″. actual measurement are 12 1/2 x 18 1/2 inches. For me, this was not a problem as it fit my little shelter perfectly. There is a cover over the hard plastic unit so it will not bend. While he was gone, I redid his his box and made sure he could lay directly on the covered pad and pushed the padding around the edges and up the sides of the box. When he returned for food, he was leary of going in since his nest had been disturbed. I stuck a piece of chicken in at the back of the box and he couldn’t resist going in. He was in all night and came out in the morning, stretched and looked happy. He ate and right back in. He’s developing a better attitude and hopefully I can work with him enough to take him to a shelter to find a home. I’m sure this heat pad is saving this guy from getting frost bite and generally helping his health. I like that the pad is not on all of the time but just when he is laying on it. Easily 5 stars for the pad but a little less for the size listing.

It’s still not 16 x 22!
This mat is probably one of the best on the market for providing heat; I’ve used one in a cat house for ferals for several years with no issues. Be aware though that Amazon has still not corrected the issue regarding the size of the pad as described on the product page; as other reviewers have reported, the size shipped is 13 x 19 inches, not 16 x 22. I thought the discrepancy in the product description would have been resolved by now, but it has not. I’m not happy with the smaller size, but I guess I’ll keep it since it seems the 16 x 22 for whatever reason is evidently not available. Sunbeam however continues to show both sizes on their website.

IT WORKS GREAT!!!
Love this product. I have an devoted outdoor cat whom I worried about in the cold weather. No longer. Warm and cozy in her little house. And no fears of starting a fire or issues with electricity. Itâs slated for outdoors.

well constructed
this is an excellent mat. We have three. Two in outside shelters for stray cats we take care of. They spend a lot of time on the mats when its cold. The third is for our elderly indoor cat who seems to really like it.

extremely hard surface
I purchased this for outdoor kitties but unfortunately the surface is extremely hard, like concrete and I would prefer a cushioned comfortable bed. It does provide warmth, apparently but I would not have purchased had I known it had no cushioning . It is also pricey for something so stiff and unyielding that is supposed to be a “bed”.

Hard plastic board
It seems like a good, well made heating mat. Details never mentioned in ads or reviews, however, is that it is a hard, stiff, plastic board. The top layer is a piece of thin sherpa fabric held on with elastic corner bands. No photos of the bottom are shown. I expected a more flexible mat with a fully enclosed covering. Also, the actual dimensions are smaller at 13″ x 19″.

These mats are fantastic. I bought two of them 8 years ago. They are plugged in and used 6 months a year to keep the ferals warm. Both of them are still in great shape and operating at full capacity. The elastic on the covers has given way a bit but that’s typical of elastic, no big deal, I use twine to keep them security to the mat. As for the covers themselves, they’re still in good shape. I highly recommend the Sunbeam mat. I’ve tried other brands and they pale in comparison.
