Well both my puppies (4 month and 6 month) fully figured out how to take apart to access their full meal faster. Both are super crazy feeders and in spinning released the clear cover over within minutes of being given. As a result they also finished the full meal way too fast.Other very big down side is being all plastic not the best choice for feeding in and how hard it is to clean with all the nooks and cranies.

Works great for slowing down & mentally stimulating large, food-motivated dogs!
This works so much better than the standard puzzle bowls (which my Belgian Malinois guard dog can still eat kibble from quite quickly). This one definitely slows her down substantially. She did, very quickly, figure out that she can use her tongue to make the food slot opening bigger to get more food out with each turn. I always move the food slot opening all the way down before I give her the bowl but the first thing she does is sticks her tongue into the food slot opening to make it as big as possible so then when she starts turning the wheel, as much food as possible pours out at one time. It took her about 10 seconds to figure that one out. LOL But overall a great bowl for stimulating her mentally and slowing down her eating. My dogs eat mostly a raw food diet so this only works with the high quality, high protein wild game kibble that I supplement feed them. It would be great to have a version that works for raw meat.I don’t know if this bowl would work well for smaller dogs though since it’s pretty big. None of my other medium-sized dogs need to use puzzle bowls since they all eat at a normal, non- frenetic pace, whether it’s their raw meat and raw bones or supplemental kibble. My Belgian Malinois is *almost* as food-driven as she is prey-driven. 🙂

This feeder meets expectations! my pup was able to figure out this feeder pretty quickly and works her way through it in about 10 minutes. It definitely slows her down, but it doesn’t require a ton of thought or work on her part anymore now that she has done it a few times. It is easy to clean, which is a huge plus, and it is easy to fill. All in all, this is probably my second-favorite puzzle feeder out of the 6 or so that we have tried.

Great for big dogs!
A very interesting challenge for my dogs! They had a lot of fun with this bowl. I have a 1/2 cup in the photo for reference. This thing is BIG I wouldnât recommend it for small dogs, the sides are tall it would be hard for them to spin it. The bottom legs grip the floor great and it kept my dogs engaged for about 15 minutes to eat 1/2 cup. I do wish I could put it in the dishwasher but itâs easy to clean. Great bowl for any dog that needs an extra challenge at meal time.

Finally, a winner!
I have recently tried out several “puzzle” toys and slow feeders for my dog. He’s old and has dementia. It’s been hard to find something that will keep his mind stimulated, but not be so difficult for him that he gets frustrated. This one seems to fit the bill.I had been using a food-dispensing ball to serve “breakfast”, but it’s getting harder for him to walk and I didn’t want him to have to work so hard for his meal. I do need him to not gulp his food down in seconds though and this keeps him from doing that.First of all, it’s big. It holds a lot of food. I definitely wouldn’t use it just to dispense treats. Besides, we have other toys for that.Secondly it’s easy to fill, which means I’m not keeping my boy waiting to be fed.Most importantly, it spins smoothly and without too much effort on my pup’s part. The top spins, the food spills out into the center bowl, my boy is rewarded for his efforts. Win, win, win.

keeps my dog’s mind busy
My jack russel/ chihuahua mix needs things to keep her mind busy. This is great for stimulating her and making her think. It only took her 10 minutes to figure out how it worked and clean the treats out. Love that you can adjust it so its harder to get the treats out, but I think she figured that out too. My other dogs tried it and got a few treats out and then left. I love that I can use it when she needs it to keep her out of trouble.
