Makes a comfortable cat carrier liner; nonstick backing isn’t very effective
I take cats to the vet fairly often in a large pet carrier. I have always just folded up a huge bath towel several times to give the cat a soft surface to lie on while being transported in the carrier. When I saw this UUBEI Pet Heating Mat Self Warming Cat Bed Mat, I realized it would work well for the size of cat carrier I’m using.The one negative I’d point out is the backing of this mat. It supposedly has a “non-slip bottom,” and it does have hundreds of barely visible bumps on the plastic bottom side of the mat — but these little bumps are just smooth plastic and are not rubberized. They do nothing to keep the mat from slipping around inside the plastic pet carrier.I can hear a slight crinkling sound when I bend and fold the mat, so the advertised “reflective layer” does seem to be embedded in the center of the mat, supposedly reflecting body heat back to the cat.The “microfleece” fabric on the side of the mat that the cat lies upon is indeed extremely soft. There is not a lot of filling to make this mat very soft or comfortable, and the mat is actually quite thin, but it would provide adequate filling for short trips between home and the veterinarian’s office.All in all, this mat fails in the “non-slip bottom” department; it has a soft microfleece side; it is pretty thin; and it seems to have a reflective layer of some kind crinkling in the middle of the mat. For my purposes as a pet carrier mat, I think it will work OK, but it is definitely not going to grip the bottom of the carrier very well, since it slides around on the plastic of the carrier.
