I love this book: it is an effortless read , well researched and clearly based on years of practice with a multitude of dogs. Using a chatty style, each chapter is short and to the point, making it easy to progress in simple steps. We have had great results within two months since buying the book. It has also given me a realistic expectation of how and when to use recall, and taught me how to better motivate my dog.A must have for anyone serious about building your relationship with your dog!

Alice is a respected and extremely knowledgeable dog trainer and walker. So when I heard she had released a book I instantly bought it knowing that what she would have written would be factual, helpful and utilising up to date research on dog behaviour and training techniques. I was not disappointed. Alice is firmly rooted in positive reinforcement training methods and her techniques are underpinned by a true love and respect for dogs. With so much: incorrect and outdated research; false and potentially quite harmful advice; and uncredited trainers out there, it can be difficult to know what advice to trust and follow – especially for first time dog owners or those with limited background knowledge of dog behaviour. For those people, I would recommend that they read Aliceâs book. It is easy to read, packed full of positive reinforcement training techniques and supported with background knowledge of your dogâs behaviour so you can understand WHY your dog behaves in the way that they do. Additionally, what is great about Alice is that she underpins all of this with the expectation and advice that owners train their dogs through love, respect and the want to ensure their dogâs are happy (how it should be!) thus she only follows a positive reinforcement training method (something which sadly not all trainers and behaviourists do!). She also provides lots of examples from her own life including with her own dogs.A wonderful book written by a wonderful human being, who not only truly loves dogs but is also an expert within her field!A definite read for all!
