This particular IR light pad is a reasonable size and strength for a reasonable price. You can use it with just Infrared, with just Red light, or with both. You can have it at 4 levels of strength, you can have it a solid shining light, or a pulsing light. It has an automatic shut off at 30 minutes, or you can set it to shut off at a different number of minutes (it goes up by 5) less than the 30. It is easy to use, I just lay it across wherever I want it. Shoulder, back, knees, hands and fingers or anywhere I need it. It comes with a belt-type thing that you can wrap around like the picture shows, but I didn’t find that helpful and don’t use it. This is a great buy, you can’t go wrong.

Stopped working after a few months. It seems to be an issue with the area that plugs into the belt. It flickered at first and I would have to play with it to get it to stay on now it just won’t work at all. Super bummed as it wasn’t exactly cheep ð

I have some IR & NIR devices from Platinum & CurrentBody which are much more expensive but this was my first blanket. The lights were not as I expected and further apart than I felt would be effective for my purposes. The diodes were flat and recessed into the blanket.

Abysmally low NIR output
I received a nominal Feangli nominal size 16″ x 8″ red + NIR LED pad. It has 120 discreet illumination devices embedded in it.I measured surface contact NIR irradiance of my this pad via a Walfront LSS122 NIR test meter. With the pad set at full power output there’s a range of NIR intensity emitted by various LEDs on it. Most are emitting only 2.6-4.3 mW/cm2, and a small number of them are as low as 0.6 mW/cm2. But even if 100% of the LEDs could put out 4.3 mW/cm2, that’s a paltry intensity not likely to result in any significant photobiomodulation (PBM) effects. Worse, these tiny light sources are located as a 15 x 8 array with 15/16″ spacings. Thus, there’s absolutely zero irradiance emitted over at least 95% of the pad’s contact area. So don’t expect to ever feel any tell-tale infrared warming of your skin while using this pad.For comparison, when oriented perpendicular to the sun’s rays, my sunning bench in central NJ received 6 mW/cm2 at 4 pm on Nov 18th while the sun was behind low cloud cover. It would’ve been a waste of my time to use the sunning bench for the purpose of PBM at that time, as I could feel absolutely no warming whatsoever of the bare skin on my face, neck and arms.FYI, in 2021 a medical study ( PMID: 34698043 ) reported that the NIR irradiance “sweet spot” for PBM is 25-35 mW/cm2. On Nov 17th I was able to get 36 mW/cm2 of NIR via my sunning bench, and I could feel the warmth resulting from the combined NIR + FIR rays that I received.TIPIf you’re serious about artificial NIR exposure on a cloudy day, then consider getting one of those red + NIR floodlamps that screw into a standard light bulb receptacle. I own a pair of those of the same model; 18 LEDs radially clustered on two concentric circles. The floodlamp has an outside dia just under 4 ¾”. In contact with its lens, I’ve measured NIR as high as 39 mW/cm2 ( right over an LED ), and as low as single digit mW/cm2 ( at the spaces between LEDs ).
