I bought this for my nephew-pup after my bed was raised to 3â and he could no longer jump onto my bed. I also realized that the jump down would be hard on him, especially since he comes and visits me several times a day.I decided to go with this product because of the depth and width of the stairs. Although it would take up a lot more space than other options, the configuration seemed a lot more sturdy than most product lines available.Toby, my nephew-pup, is a tall mini schnauzer, 4 human years old, sensitive to unusual or loud noises, and is quite timid toward new things. I knew if I was going to buy him something there needed to be carpeting that couldnât slip and the stairs needed to be really sturdy if he was going to give them a real try. The stairs are hollow, so I also made sure I didnât pound on them when training him to use them.It took him a day to feel comfortable going up, I used a lot of treats in trails. It seemed he was a lot more scared of going down them than going up and during that first day he was more interested in me carrying him off the bed than wanting to try to get down using the stairs, and he really really hates being picked up. Thankfully, the confidence/comfort he developed going up the stairs allowed him to get over his fear of going down the stairs. The second day he only got treats if he went down the stairs. It took him almost the entire day to get up the courage to go down the stairs. It was hard to let him take his time and have patience with his slow progress. I didnât think forcing him was a good idea because it could have hindered his willingness to ever try and could have exacerbated his fear. By the third day of training we were working on him remembering there were stairs for him to use to get down (instead of jumping off the bed) when he got excited that someone came home or a visitor was at the door. That took about a week because all of his instincts were telling him that he needed to get to the front door and greet people as fast as he can.Itâs been several weeks since I assembled them and now he uses them like a pro, even caught him hanging out on them a couple of times.*Tip- the storage area is great and does make up for most of the size. You need to make sure the storage door, which is located on the back of the top step, is shut all the way because it significantly contributes to the sturdiness of the top stairs. The door does fit snug and needs to be gently pushed into place, it isnât designed to close all the way on its own, but that also means it does not pop open by itself either. The first time I got Toby onto the top stair to try to go back down, the door wasnât closed all the way, he was shaking pretty bad from nervousness and he shook the stairs so bad he jumped back onto the bed and had no desire to try going down the stairs again on the first day. I think it contributed to how long it took him to feel comfortable trying to go down the stairs again. In all the research I did, nothing I read told me to make sure the door was secure. This product is definitely worth the cost and I hope it saves him from injuries and premature wear and tear in his joints. Heâs worth it.Assembling was really easy and the instructions were written very well. Iâm currently going through chemo treatments, so Iâm extremely weak, and I still didnât have any problem assembling by myself. The only complaint I have is that there arenât better choices in color.Toby and I are very happy and grateful we found this product. Thank you Pet Gear! If anyone has questions from a consumer about this product, feel free to contact me on amazon.Bekah and Toby

Great steps
The height is just right for my bed (30â) steps are (26â). Very easy to put together and sturdy. My chihuahua goes up and down easily. I did a straight setup instead of turning last section sideways. The storage area is useless for me because I have it up against the bed, but the area under steps is good size. My dog doesnât see good at night so I stuck little lights on each step for a night light.

Definitely worth the money!!!
We ordered this set of steps for our latest rescue dog, a chunky little 7 year old Pomeranian, because we were worried he might hurt himself jumping off the bed at night. With a few treats & some coaxing up & down the steps, he had it all figured out within half an hour & now uses them every night. The steps are easy to snap together & quite sturdy, & it’s great that you can put them on either side of the bed or have them straight down with no corner which is what we ended up doing – they are at the foot of the bed where they take up even less floor space. I would have given a 5 star rating except that they are a little noisy & I don’t like that the edges of the steps are not covered with carpet – but so far they work like a charm other than that. I wish they were available in black, but that’s not a big deal since they work so well. The steps are slightly sloped, & the carpet pieces stick down nicely with no movement there. Our little Pom weighs about 10 pounds, & we have a medium sized Schnauzer mix that weighs about 20 & she uses it, too. We also have a little 4 pound Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix who CAN go up & down it with no problem if she wants to (does she want to? Of course not! LOL). So if you’re concerned about the height of the steps being too much for a tiny dog or a puppy, no worries there.I would definitely recommend these steps over any others that we have tried – they are a little more expensive, but well worth the difference in price for the quality. And as always, great service from Amazon!!!!

My husband and I actually thought the stairs were made out of wood. It was a surprise to see that they are plastic. However, we love them. So easy to put together. The stairs are on an angle and our cat gets up and down them so easily.

These stairs worked out so well. Our 2 dachshunds go up and down them with ease. They took to them right away. I like the fact that they are light, makes it easy to move them when it’s time to make the bed.
