Leaked
Due to a possible manufactured flaw the ‘buttons’ came up on this bed so it was no longer had the quilted look and it developed a leak and the chemical itself came out. Unfortunately I couldn’t return in since it was past the return window due to being out of state camping. It worked great for awhile before this happened. Glad I didn’t pay a lot of money for it.

Cats don’t use
I got this for my cats who like to hang out in the garage during the day, which gets hot in the summer. Unfortunately neither of them seems interested in trying it out. Guess I’ll try again next year! It does seem to have some cooling action when you sit on it.

Super easy to useâ just fill it water and wait for it to become foamlike. My cat immediately sits onto it after I put it on the ground. the material is thick and of good quality. My cat is enjoying it a lot lol

Just a typical gel pad. Needs to be refrigerated to be cool.
This pad is nothing impressive.It arrives as a PVC bag filled with sodium polyacrylate, water absorbent powder.You add enough water to fill the bag to capacity and the powder turns into gel. You then need to knead the bag, to distribute the gel evenly.I will note that even when filled to capacity, the bag isn’t full enough to avoid bottoming out when weight is put on it.So it’s essentially a DIY gel cooling pack. It is not self-cooling and needs to either be refrigerated or submerged in cold water first. It will get warm and need to be re-cooled.It has a chemical smell from the PVC, which my cats didn’t like, so they avoided it. I had to let it air out, to reduce the smell.I had to put a food bowl on it, to attract my outdoor cat whom I was trying to keep cool in 90-100° weather and as soon as he finished eating, he got off the pad. I left it out for the rest of the day and he never got back on it. When I brought it in in the evening, the pad was very warm.My black indoor cat (seen in the photo) took a few days to feel safe approaching the pad. When it was new, he would approach, smack the pad several times, then back away. When he did lay on it, he only did it for a couple of minutes at a time.I think my cats didn’t like the plastic feel of the PVC. Maybe placing a t-shirt or towel over the pad would help.Another issue with the pad is that the heat-sealed circles which are there to maintain a “quilted” effect, weren’t all done thoroughly and a couple popped apart, making even distribution of the gel a bit more challenging.Also, my indoor cat bit the pad playfully and ended up tearing holes where the gel started leaking out. I had to get rid of it, so he didn’t ingest the gel.Overall, this isn’t anything miraculous but it’s not all that bad. Just realize that you are getting a larger than average, PVC fabric, gel pack, that needs to be cooled and re-cooled periodically.
