    Kept my dogs busy
I have a 40 lb blue heeler mix and a 100 lb lab mix. When I received the product I was surprised by the size, smaller than I expected. Although I was weary my dogs love it! It definitely keeps them busy while we are away during the day. One thing I will say is that mine breaks open but I think that’s because majority of the time the dogs play with it on concrete and dropping it a bunch on concrete made the top open but nothing was broke.

good idea, but poorly designed top half, flimsy
Poorly designed ; there’s no reason for top half to be made split into 2 pieces that easily come apart from each other ; should have been made as a half sphere just like bottom half which screws together with top half.Received order with 3 new “IQ Activity” type of dog toys yesterday & was excited for my dog to try this one out first, since she has had a similar type ball that she liked. Within 10 to 15 minutes of her playing with this ball it had come apart because of the poorly designed top piece that separates in half so easily. So, then my dog was able to remove the the inner piece between the top & bottom, chew on it, & all the kibble spilled out.I gave it 2 stars because the idea is good of having a center piece with holes that don’t line up with outside hole of ball, so dog has to roll ball around/play with it to get kibble to come out. But, the construction of that top half ruins it.3 DAYS LATER :I’m revising to 3 stars. After trying it out again, I realized that when you screw the bottom half onto the top you have to make sure you turn it VERY hard – even after you think it is screwed on well if you try turning more extra hard you can perhaps get it tomove/turn/screw on a tiny bit more. That helps make that the top a little more secure. So now, my dog has been able to bat the ball around on the floor & get it to dispense the treats like it should without falling apart. But, after a little while she just picks the ball up in her mouth & carries it back to her bed & just keeps holding & chewing it from the hole as a starting point, turning the ball upside down & shaking it around until she can get more treats out (rather than running around after it). HOWEVER, now that it is screwed on harder, she is not getting it to come apart like she did so readily that first time. (Plus, now I am taking it away from her & putting it back out on the floor once she carries it back to her bed & starts chewing on it. But she just picks it up in her mouth & carries it back to her bed again),By the way, she is only a small 26-lb. dog, & is not a big chewer – she does not usually chew things, even bones/chew treats/chew toys. She just is trying to get at those treats the lazier easier way than batting the ball around. And the ball is too small since she can just pick it up in her mouth & carry it even though she is not a big dog.

Engaging toy. Slows feeding for “gulpers”.
I have purchased 7 of these. (More on that, later.) My dog LOVES them. The original design (top = 1 piece; bottom = 1 piece) was sturdier and easier to use. The newer design (top splits into two pieces) is awkward to use, as the split top falls apart easily and the rim with the screw threads tends to crack. I always Duck tape the two pieces together as soon as I open the package. (I suspect the newer design was adopted for safety reasons. I just can’t align the top “halves” easily and opt for fixing them together with tape.)Do NOT buy this if you don’t want to hear kibbles loudly rolling around in the plastic ball for 10 minutes a pop, or frequent impacts with walls, furniture, appliances, etc., because an active dog will richochet this thing like a pinball. You will find kibble under everything, and if you have furniture that’s raised more than the diameter of the ball, you will be retrieving the ball all the time, or risk your dog tearing apart whatever the ball rolled under. (I bought clear “toy guards” and secured them to the bottom surface of the one sofa table my dog kept rolling it under.)Having said all of the negatives, I keep buying them about every 3-4 months, when one inevitably cracks, because my dog is ADDICTED to this toy feeder. She’s smart and needs a lot of stimulation. This does the trick moreso than any of the “puzzle” trays I’ve found. I also like that the inserts can be adjusted to make it harder. We use small crunchy kibble. Everything comes apart easily to clean.

Impractical and unnecessarily difficult to open
I was so excited for this toy to come in. My dog loves working for her treats and this looked like a great product. Unfortunately, it is the opposite.I am unable to get it open. At first, I thought it was just me lacking in intelligence first thing in the morning. Turns out, a bunch of people have had the same issue and this is a frequently returned toy.I tried to unscrew before noticing that this product has actually changed. In the pictures and videos it provides, it shows the top being one piece that simply screws on and off like a lid. I guess they “upgraded” it so that the top, for some reason unbeknownst to me, is actually two pieces. This is pretty misleading for potential buyers and you really shouldn’t have to rely on reviews to tell you basic information on something.I used a flathead screwdriver, my finger, a knife, tweezers, and passed it around to several family members. I even semi broke part of the plastic trying to get it open. I’m going to return it and get a refund. No use in completely tearing it up for it to not work. Not to mention, once it’s open, it has to be closed and opened again with each use.I’m pretty upset because I really was excited to use this. In theory, it’s probably a great toy. I even think it -was- a great toy before they changed the design, if the older reviews are anything to go by.I guess I did pay for a puzzle, I just didn’t think it would be for humans!

Love it and more importantly, so does our boxer! Keeps her entertained and active for quite awhile and is a great way to add in extra activity on cold days. Not too easy, or too hard. Adjustable feature works well. Only complaint is the material, which is super hard, makes it hard for our dog to pick up and seems like it might cause long term wear on wooden stairs.

I purchased the 3 inch version and my dog loves it. Need to cut treats up small otherwise it would be super challenging for the treats to be dispensed. It’s a little tricky to put together but that’s the nature of having multiple layers.
