Good slow feeder for large dogs
We got this (large size) slow feeder (in white) for our Labrador retriever who used to hoover down her food so fast she choked. This has slowed her waaaayyy down, and no more choking or coughing up food she inhaled. Heavy ceramic, good glaze that makes it easy to clean. We feed about 1.3 cups each meal, and this feeder easily accommodates that amount of food, plus water we put with the food. Cleans well in dishwasher, and the no-slip feet are helpful, and seem well-adhered. I’m ordering another one for our other Lab…though she doesn’t hoover as fast as our first one, she could also benefit from slowing down her feeding. Highly recommend.

Slows him down drastically
Our newly adopted pup is a Boxer/American Bulldog mix and came from a difficult situation. Because of it he would inhale his food in less than 5 minutes every time we fed him. This was causing him to have some bloat and major gas. He also would eat so fast that his metal bowl would end up halfway across the room by the time he was finished. I bought this ceramic slow feeder bowl in hopes that it would be heavy enough he couldn’t scoot it across the wood floors and to obviously slow him down a bit with his food. We’ve only used it for two feedings so far but it seems to be working. It now takes him at least double the time to eat and the bowl stays put the entire time. He also can’t lift it up and carry it around the house with him which is a big plus. The large size is perfect for our guy and the little pieces that stick up inside aren’t so tall that they aggravate his smushy face but still make him have to work for it to get the food out.

The bowl works. I have a saint benard and the concern of bloat is very real. This unit slows his esting down greatly and I reccomend.

Ciotola realizzata in ceramica di buona qualità e pesante il giusto affinché resti ben salda in posizione. La cosa più importante è però che svolga egregiamente il suo compito nel senso che il cane impiega almeno il quadruplo del tempo per mangiare evitando così di ingozzarsi. Facile da pulire obiettivamente non ha difetti.

Zuerst hatte ich ein normales Futternapf für meinen kleinen verfressenen Labrador-Welpen gekauft. Schnell habe ich gemerkt, dass das Futter schneller weg inhaliert ist als ich gucken kann. Dann habe ich ein Anti-Schling-Napf aus Plasik gekauft. Hätte ich mir schenken können, das Teil flog innerhalb von Sekunden durch die Wohnung in der Hoffnung, dass sich doch noch irgendwo ein Futterkrümel rausfällt und gefressen werden kann. Dann habe ich mir das Teil aus Keramik gekauft, auch wenn es nicht ganz preisgünstig war. Aber: Es lohnt sich. Die Größe ist perfekt für meinen kleinen Fresssack und die Schale kann auch nicht groß bewegt werden, weil sie schön robust und schwer ist. Das Futter lässt sich gut verteilen und der Hund braucht deutlich (!) länger sein Futter auszupicken. Somit ist das Schlingen nicht möglich. Da ich eine Spülmaschine habe, reinigt sich das Ding von allein, ansonsten könnte es wahrscheinlich etwas nervig sein, mit den vielen Rillen.
