THE BENEFITS OF SLOW FEEDER DOG BOWLS: A slow feeder dog bowl can help reduce choking and gastrointestinal discomfort. When dogs eat from the OurPets Durapet slow feeder dog bowl, the solid centerpiece causes them to eat along the edges with more mental attention, resulting in a slower feeding routine. This can promote long-terms health benefits for your dog

PATENTED SKID-PROOF BOTTOM: The DuraPet slow feeder dog bowl is a top-of-the-line design at an affordable price. To prevent skidding, we added a permanent bonded ring to the bottom. This patented, skid-proof design prevents sliding and tipping during feeding time
DISHWASHER SAFE DOG BOWLS: Dishwasher-safe for easy cleaning. Our dog slow feeder bowl dog dishes are rust resistant, hygienic, and don’t hold odors

Customers say

Customers find the pet feeder slows their pets down, which helps digestion. They appreciate its quality construction, sturdy stainless steel material, and rubber bottom that lasts for years. Many find it works well with wet foods and is better than a standard round bowl. The bowl is easy to clean, slip-resistant, and offers good value for money. However, opinions differ on the size.

Great product – remember to go a size lower
Our labs are gulpers and we were having trouble with vomiting immediately after eating. I’ve previously tried the plastic slow feed bowls, which work very well at slowing them down. However, (a) whatever they say, they do move a lot and (b) they get tooth marks in them and so look a little unhealthy. Plus it looks kinda painful when they jam their snouts into one of the small chambers, although that’s better than gulping with all it’s associated problems/risks.I love these bowls, but I’ll get the bad out of the way first. As noted by others, the sizing is out. Luckily I’d seen that here, so I ordered the medium for our 30kg (66 lbs) girls. Second, even if you order the suitable size, they don’t reduce the eating speed to the same extent as the plastic bowls with their 3-4 chambers. Finally, there have been reviews that mention fractures on the rim and one of mine had to be returned because there was a small hairline fracture (I suspect it’d already been returned by someone, as it had loads of dog food crumbs in it!).The good. Amazon were, as always, great about the return & replacement; sure, they’d sent out a previously returned item in the first place, but the return was easy, they refunded my return postage from the UK of $15 without a quibble and sent the replacement out before I’d even posted the return, so all was forgiven.Like the plastic slow feed bowls, they do slow the dogs down although, as the food area is doughnut shaped rather than chambers, not by as much. Still, it seems to be enough as there’s not been any of the daily vomiting since we started using these. There’s enough room for their full once-a-day meal without any spillage when they start eating (a couple of bits of kibble rather than the explosive mess that often occurred with the our old steel bowls).I’ve seen some ask and they’re definitely made in India (and well made at that – if I didn’t need the slow feed bowl, I’d be buying Durapet’s normal dog food bowl). I love the fixed non-slip strip, which unlike the plastic slow feed bowls actually works and which is much better than the removable one on my old fashioned steel bowls. As they don’t flare out as much as those old bowls, I can fit two in the dishwasher side-by-side. Top marks – I’d have happily paid full price for these.

    Great product
It is awesome, it is still a slow feeder for him w/o the side walls being to high & confining for his face. I love it, the non slip is awesome to.

Purchased one of these over 10 years ago & it’s still in great shape. Bought this one for one of our other dogs – helps some.
For under seven dollars & fifty cents, this can’t be beat. We’ve had one of these for about ten years for our Aussie, who practically inhales her food. Our other dog (55 lb. Heinze 57) used to eat fast, but not so badly that we worried about it. Last year, however, we lost another dog in the house. My 55 lb mutt developed separation anxiety, ulcers (didn’t even know dogs could get those), and began to wolf down his food so fast he would get sick. Got calming biscuits and a kennel for the anxiety when we left the house (not cured, but he’s a bit better). The vet and a prescription took care of the ulcers (although he’s now on Pepcid AC for life). We put a cat bowl upside down in his big bowl o see if a ‘bump’ would slow down the eating. It worked, but after eating, he would clatter his bowl around to get the cat food bowl out of his dog bowl – making a horrible racket. So, we ordered the DuraPet. It works about the same way that it did for my Australian Shephard – it slows him down a bit (takes about 3x longer to eat than inhaling out of his old bowl. Not a miracle, but slows him down enough to prevent vomiting. We feed hard food & some soft with fairly equal success. My dog’s face is shaped like a labs, & he has no problems getting his snout in there.A note on longevity: As mentioned, my Australian Shepherd has been using her DuraPet bowl for about a decade. After being banged around just before feeding time by eager dogs 2 x a day as well as year’s worth of daily hand-washing & a weekly trip through the top shelf of the dishwasher, her bowl is still in excellent condition. The lip is rolled, creating a safe edge for dogs. The stainless steel still shows no signs of rust. My Aussie is mostly blind & still has no trouble getting her food out of this (although she had good sight when it was originally purchased, so it could be just that she’s already familiar with it). I didn’t notice any changes in design or weight when I compared her old bowl to this new one, so I expect the new one to hold up to rough dogs and stand the test of time as well.My only complaint with these bowls is that where that underneath the ‘hump’ (bottom of bowl) holds a lot of water when it’s run through the dishwasher. I could never figure out why another piece of stainless steel wasn’t molded over that part – to give the bowl a flat bottom that wouldn’t catch water. Now that we have 2 bowls, though, I figured it out. They stack or nest. Nice feature if you have more than one of these – definitely handy if you want an extra set & need to save space to store them.I do with they made a smaller version of the DuraPet, though. This small bowl works for both of my larger dogs (around 55 lbs each), but it does not work for my 11 lb. dog. I had to buy a different product for him (a ball that rolls around in his bowl). This bowl would also be too big for cats, even though it is advertised differently. Also, one of my cats is on a prescription diet, so she is fed in a cat carrier to keep the 2 cats from eating each others’ food – this bowl takes up too much space to put it in a kennel. If anybody from the company reads these reviews, please consider making a small pet DuraPet bowl. I think a lot of people and their smaller furry family members would benefit from that :-)A great purchase & I have recommended this product to others over the years – evidently I’m not the only one with pets that tend to compete with each other to see who can inhale their food fastest. I wonder if this would work for my son? Just kidding – there is no slowing him down 🙂

Work great for my 85lb Goldens……
Medium Bowls are 9 inches across2 inches in depthHave 1 inch rubber ring around bottom of the bowlSlows dogs down by getting narrow at the bottom of the bowl and therfore makes the dog have to work in order to get a good bite of food.Exactly what I needed. I have 3 large dogs. Two 85 lb Goldens and 1 Shepherd. The two Goldens have always raced to see who can eat the fastest. One of them will literally eat 2 cups of dry dog food in about 5 seconds. He inhaled his dog food. So, I took a chance on these and thay really do work. I got the medium sized bowls for all three dogs. It now takes the Goldens about a minute to eat the food. One of them slides his bowl around a bit even thought there is non slip on the bottom, I have tile floors. The other has no issues and it slows him down also. The shepherd didn’t have an issue with eating fast, but I wanted to have uniform bowls so she got one also. Her eating time is the same as it was before, about 5 minutes or more to eat, I think she smells each piece before eating. In the pictures you will see three bowls. One is empty, one has 1 cup of food and the third has 2 cups of food. You can also see my ultra fast eater, Frisco enjoying his breakfast. Again, the goldens are 85 lb dogs and the shepheard is 75lb

Great food bowl to slow down their eating.
This dog is definitely food motivated so when you put her food bowl down she would inhale the food so fast. After switching to this slow feed bowl she is forced to take her time eating and therefore she actually enjoys her food more without any stomach upset.

Really excellent slow feeding bowl! Was apprehensive our frenchie wouldn’t be able to eat her kibble again as we have tried multiple slow feeding bowls that have failed but this works well! She eats 1 cup throughout the day, divided into 3 portions so the bowl size is perfect for each meal. She’a able to get to her kibble and eats unaided and the bowl slows her feeding by about 5 minutes. Easy to clean and seems durable. The rubber grip works well to keep the bowl in place while she’s eating.

This is a great item. My little rescue cairn/westie woofed his food down all the time, which I didn’t think was very good for him. Then I read about this bowl. It really does what it says on the tin. He now eats any food more slowly, and I am extremely pleased with it. It is very good quality, easy to keep spotless, and even has a rubber band on the bottom it stop it sliding about. Excellent product.
