Easy, slightly stretchy, mesh cooling vest
Good thing that this came in a two-pack, because we were taking two dogs to the beach and wanted them to have some protection from the strong sun and an unusually hot late April day – almost record-breaking for the month, in fact.This is a mesh-type material, not solid fabric. When wet, it can provide some relief from the heat. The mesh material dries out fairly quickly, but it’s just a matter of wetting it again.Be sure to measure your dog before ordering, as this style is NOT adjustable – it is more like a tank-top style. In our case, it fit a pair of dogs weighing between 35-40 pounds. The back end does have a habit of flipping up – so it might be that our dogs fit was perhaps close to being tight.The dogs had a blast hanging out on the beach all day, and neither got overly hot nor sunburned.The mesh does rinse out easily, so it’s easy to get rid of any sand that might have been picked up. Unfortunately, since it is a mesh, it’s easy for playing dogs to rip the material too while rough-housing.Overall, it did the job. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t expect it to stand up to extended daily use for an entire summer, unless your dog doesn’t play that much, but it seems good enough to use for a vacation or several day trips.
