I really don’t know how it works. The chill side stays cool. I used it one night instead of letting my dogs have it, however I got it for them and they love it.

UPDATE 11/9/24: I have hand cared for the 2 items (one larger; one smaller). They do work well, but the quality is fading. Even with the care I give them and my pup never tries to tug or mess with them, the threads are coming out so they now have gaps not holding onto the liner. Bit disappointed. Earlier when first received in August 24: These are quality made items; I purchased two – a smaller and a larger one. They are not what I expected – Iâve had dogs my entire life & purchased many bed/sofa cooling items. I thought from the picâs & descriptions these would have more substance. They are really very thin; I donât see how they are going to be cooling , but Iâll try them out. They are reversible per the descriptions thoâ they move around on the sofa and the pups bed ..thatâs my concern & also relief as cooling. Laundry: Important – gentle cold cycle & HANG to dry.. this is on the very small directions, but if you do that, they do dry nicely.

My Dogs Enjoy the Cooling Mat
I have two small Cairn terriers that I keep their hair cut a bit shorter in the summer. They might be cute, but they are not the smartest of dogs. I will find them laying outside in the sun panting like crazy. I got this cooling mat to lay on top of one of the beds I have scattered throughout the house. The mat has two sides with a different material on each side. One side is fuzzier, while the other side is silkier. If you want your fur baby to be cooler, be sure to put the silkier side up. When I first started putting the mat on top of the bed, they did their typical “nest-making” which would cause the mat to fall to the side. At this point, both dogs enjoy laying on the mat during one of their many naps during the day. I believe they are enjoying the coolness the mat provides. I really have no idea since both still have quite a bit of hair on their bodies. But I feel better trying to provide the best comfort that I can for them. My plan is to turn the mat over when we get cooler temperatures in the late fall. The cooling mat is very well made with no issues with the material or the sewing.

My old dog avoids this blanket
I have an aging dog who is an angel, but who has started to “leak” in his old age. So we have waterproof covers and blankets down everywhere he likes to rest. I thought this blanket would be great for him, because he does not like to be hot, so the fact that this was a “cooling” cover appealed to me. When it arrived, it was packaged nicely, and I put it down on his spot on the couch. He immediately kicked and nudged it out of the way. I don’t know what about it he didn’t really like, but he doesn’t want to lay directly on it. Since it is waterproof, which is important to me, I will probably layer it on the bottom of other blankets he does like to lay on, to protect my couch or bed. How badly have I spoiled this dog? Ha. Pet blanket
This is the perfect size for my large cat (~25 lbs & long and tall), so it should work well for just about any cat and many small dogs.One side is smooth and satiny. It doesn’t really feel “cooling” necessarily, but does seem like it doesn’t hold heat as well, so he has been laying on it a lot during these hot summer days we’ve been having. He obviously likes it and chooses to lay there.The opposite side is sort of like a thin velvet material, which would probably retain heat better and feel nice in the colder months.So far, 2 clawed thumbs up from my kitty!

More of a blanket than a cooling mat
This âKritter Planet Waterproof Cooling Dog Matâ feels like two thin layers of fabric, One side is slightly fuzzier than the other, which does not prevent it from sliding around all over the place.It says itâs polyester material, which makes sense as it seems like two different textures. It has been easy to clean, and doesn’t get dirty very easily.This does not seem to be very cooling at all. My dog bunches this up and uses it more like a pillow. When sheâs hot she doesnât use it at all. She prefers to push it to the side and lay in front of a fan on our regular carpet instead. Overall, neither I or my dog seem to be impressed.
