Great for cleaning my dogs ears. Tips generally have always stayed on the wood handle which I feel is important that it doesnât get lodged into place.

We have a larger 70 pound dog with one ear that gets waxy, especially in the hot and humid summer months. I have to clean this ear at least once per week to stay ahead of any infection and have always struggled to have the right tools for the job. I got the size medium swabs and am so glad I didnât get the large. The medium is the perfect size for swabbing the outer part of his ear canal thoroughly and big enough that I canât go any deeper. Vets advise against going too far into a dogâs ear canal when cleaning, so these are perfect. They are very sturdy with the wooden handle, soft and absorbent too. These swabs are a great tool for my arsenal of weapons to battle excessive ear wax in our pooch!

Great for larger dogs!
Got these to use with my 90lb pitbull and really like them. They’re large enough that I can’t enter too deep into the ear canal to hurt him but am still able to get in and clean thoroughly. Super helpful!

Too big, weak sticks
Partly my fault, I ordered the large size on these because my dog is good-sized, around 50 lbs, but they were much too large to fit into his ear canal. As a result, I’m stuck with a whole box of these swabs and have nothing to use them on, and it’s back to square one for keeping his ears clean.Perhaps if you have a truly big dog – maybe a full-size Lab, Great Dane, etc, they might work. I tried mashing them smaller, but they are quite firm and that didn’t do enough, and trimming them with scissors makes them fall apart, which would leave cotton debris in his ears. In addition, the few I did try to use after mashing the swab part smaller, the stick broke on a couple. It always broke near the midpoint, so it didn’t leave the cotton ball end down in his ear, but I’d be concerned about that as well.

These are quality products for cleaning your dogs ears but are better suited for larger dogs. Hereâs a comparison to a regular swab for a visual. Not really suitable for my shih tzus unfortunately. But I wouldnât hesitate if I owned a big dog. These are serious!
