Very nice
I will admit first off that I listened to other reviewers and bought a size larger than I thought I would need. I should have bought what I thought would fit my dog. I have a pit bull mix that weighs over 90# and has a lovely broad chest and thick shoulders and long body. When I measured him, I thought I should just get the x-large, but instead went a size up to the xx-large. It’s a bit too big. That was my bad. Although it is a little loose on him, I will keep it and use it because it is not TOO loose, and it is nicely made and an appealing color (the hunter green). And even though it is a little big, it doesn’t look like it would get in the way when he does his business or anything. And I feel like it offers a little more coverage to keep him warm than a smaller size would – like the underside of his chest.Like I said, it is nicely made. The outer material feels like a soft suede/velvet kind of material, and the underside is a soft fleecy kind of material. Water-resistant and warm. If it were made for people, it would be a jacket rather than a coat — like a sweatshirt with a little wind-breaker over it. The picture is pretty accurate. My dog loves it. The reflective stripes are HIGHLY reflective. Unless you cover them with something like a backpack or another piece of clothing, your dog will be seen from way down the street when headlights hit it. I use a backpack, so the stripes are not quite so noticeable except for the two or three inches that show from beneath the backpack on his ribs, and those stripes are pretty bight. The collar has a little button-hole in it for the leash, but because I use a martingale which needs to sit a lot higher on the neck, it just goes up above the collar. Not a big deal.Again, the error in sizing was mine. The product itself is very nice, and I would rather work with it to make it fit better than to mess with returning it for a smaller size.I will definitely be ordering for our other dogs, and I fully recommend this product. But DO take a tape measure to your dog and order accordingly. There are instructions on the product page on how and what to measure, and the corresponding sizes. Don’t just eyeball it.

Velvet dog coat
I got this for a doberman pincher pup. At first she tried to take it off, by reaching around and biting the rear end of the coat to get it off. So I decided to ‘train’ her to wear it. I kept her REALLY occupied, chasing a frisbee NON-STOP for 15 min or so for the first few times I put it on her. I then took her right into the house, and ended the play session, removing the coat in the house. If she realizes she must wear it when playing in the cold, she does with no complaint. She got used to it very quickly, and now leaves it alone. I notice it keeps her from shivering so soon after we go out. It fits her body perfectly, and with that tall collar standing up, she looks like ‘Elvis’ pup. Great Value. It is very well made, and great looking. UPDATE 11/7/12 I got another pup in 2009 and she also wears this coat, but will tug at the backend of it sometimes, even at 3 yrs old now.But she leaves it on.. . I still LOVE these coats for cold non-snow weather.. I get coats that cover the stomach for deep snow… (fido fleece), but these are easy to put on and do the job of keeping the muscles just warm enough to keep them from getting injurys so easily… I just, last week, purchased 2 more of them as one coat is wearing out finally (after almost 5YEARS of heavy use), and the other has been chewed abit, it has holes in it, from the pup… I forgot to take it away after taking it off her. IT still goes on , but finally the strap under the belly gave out, on the oldest coat.(5yrs) I could sew it back on easily, but the rest of the coat got chewed up so I decided a new one is in order.

Why pay more when you get EVERYTHING and MORE for this incredibly low price?!
For the price it simply and honestly can not be beat. Period. I just moved to Southern Michigan and I was worried about my big guy, my Tazzy-bert, getting cold since he’s a black lab-mix with short, black hair. Being on a fixed disability budget (cancer ravaged my body), I couldn’t afford the 40-50 dollar coats that lay about the local stores. And most locally required putting the front legs though the coat to put it on (something I didn’t think my Taz would like). I needed to find something warm, easy to put on, and didn’t upset my puppy. I treat my pups exactly how I’d like to be treated, with respect, with dignity, and with love. I refuse to make them learn ‘tricks and such. Anywho….I saw this online here @ Amazon and thought it could just be the coat I needed budget-wise, but still have my Taz the protection he needed. I ordered the largest one since he has a 40 inch chest (he’s a biggun). Of course I was worried about it not fitting his chest, but as there were no other viable options, I just threw caution to the wind. Well, let me say that my gamble REALLY paid-off. It came nicely wrapped in a sturdy plastic, hanging on it’s own decorative hanger. I thought that was a nice touch. It took all of 20 seconds to put on (which my badly damaged and barely working hands appreciated), and the best parts were that it really covered his whole back, neck comfortably, AND it didn’t freak the shiat out of him like most everything else did. He took to it in a few seconds, and was even running around the yard (in 40 degree weather) with my other dog (who was very interested in his new coat (she doesn’t need one – she has long, thick hair and she LOVES snow). I knew the coat would be long on his back, and it was. I plan to fix that with a few velcro strips that I will put back there to be able to fold back the coat to a more comfortable place on his back, and keep it firmly in place. A simple $1 fix. Again, I KNEW it would be long, and it in no way affected my purchase. I was ONLY concerned about it going around his chest. I plan to budget another one or two in for him. Oh, and in case you didn’t realize, these coats have a nice velcro pocket on the back that allows you to store things like poop bags and such, and an opening that you can put a leash clip through without affecting the coat’s protection. I found both to be a pleasant -and practical- surprise. It may have been mentioned in the description, but I was too focused on sizing to really take note. So, if you are on the fence on this one, I’d suggest taking the plunge. Sure, you could buy more expensive ones, but I’d argue they’d do no better of a job keeping the wind and cold off your dog’s back, nor have any more practical features like the pocket and clip slip. Why pay more when you get EVERYTHING for this incredibly low price?!

Es caliente. Un poco corto del largo para un labrador, el ancho es muy bueno, amplio.

Really great coat. Looks super on our white retriever. Heâs had lots of compliments on it. Best of all it protects his haunches (he has bad hips) in cold weather. Not for rain, but definitely perfect for cold days.

Got this on sale at a steal, and I am very impressed with the quality of the item. It is thick and soft, with great stitching. It fit our pit/shepherd cross very well (he’s about 70 lbs, 34″ long). It will be good for letting him out in the chilly weather.
