Dr. Bill’s Pet Nutrition

The Best Supplements for Your Pet
Dr. Bill has been developing products for the veterinary profession since 1982 – his years of experience ensure that safety, efficacy, and palatability are built into every product. Careful attention to the dog and cat’s specific nutritional needs during different life stages, periods of stress, levels of activity, and certain medical conditions have determined which products are needed most and will produce the best results.

Feline Cognitive Support
Similar to dementia in humans, the cat’s brain function slowly declines as they age. This condition is scientifically termed Cognitive Dysfunction. The deterioration of cognitive abilities is typically characterized by behavioral changes such as memory loss and diminished motor function. Cognitive Dysfunction can affect your pet’s interactions with both humans and other animals. Even well-socialized cats may become irritable, withdraw from their owners and favorite activities, or fail to notice things that used to interest them.
Cognitive dysfunction gradually worsens over time and is often referred to as “cognitive decline.” Unfortunately, the nutrients required to maintain optimal brain function are difficult to find in today’s commercially manufactured pet foods. Dr. Bill’s Cognitive Support provides superior protection for maintaining brain health and potentially even reversing the signs of cognitive dysfunction.
Proactive Nutritional Support for: Preserving Memory Improving Motor Function Reversing Unwanted Behavior Slowing Cognitive Decline
Made with High-Quality, Biologically-Appropriate, Natural Ingredients Including:

Gingko Biloba
Gingko is an herbal supplement derived from the leaves of the Gingko Biloba tree. The leaves can stimulate blood flow to the extremities and to the brain – therefore it is used to treat cognitive dysfunction and memory problems.
Widespread animal studies describe Gingko as having antioxidant properties capable of providing protective effects during conditions of oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is especially harmful to the brain tissue, which can lead to cognitive decline.

DHA
Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) is a long-chain, polysaturated fatty acid. DHA is a primary structural component of nerve, eye, and brain tissue, and is crucial for their proper development and function. Decreases in DHA in the brain are associated with cognitive decline, which is a great reason why you should supplement your aging dogs pet food to make sure they are getting all of the nutrients they need.

Vitamin B-6
Vitamin B-6 is a water-soluble vitamin that is stable to heat and acid. However, oxidation or exposure to alkali or UV light can destroy it, and as much as 50% of Vitamin B-6 is destroyed during cooking and processing.
All the B vitamins benefit the brain, but B-6 is especially important for regulating moods and preventing mental fatigue. This water-soluble vitamin is needed for the brain to produce serotonin and it helps the body make hemoglobin – the part of your blood that carries energy-boosting oxygen to the brain and other organs.

Phosphatidylcholine
Phosphatidylcholine (PC) plays an essential role in the overall health of all dogs and cats. Typical food sources of PC include egg yolks, soy lecithin, red meats, sunflower seeds, liver and spinach. Very little PC is found in typical pet food offerings, thus making supplementation quite beneficial.
Primary benefits of PC supplementation include enhancing memory, improving brain function, slowing cognitive decline, and has also been used to protect the liver from the accumulation of fat and cholesterol.

Supplement for Senior Cats
Most senior cats exhibit at least one clinical sign of cognitive dysfunction, which can gradually worsen over time. Providing our senior cats with additional antioxidants and nutrients to maintain normal brain function seems quite logical. Unfortunately, these nutrients cannot be found in most commercially manufactured cat diets. Feline Cognitive Support supplies a proprietary blend of nutrients for the brain that can aid in maintaining and even reversing the signs of cognitive dysfunction.
Other Recommended Products Include: Feline Ultimate Fitness & Health, Feline Immune Support, Feline Health Defense, Feline Complete Joint Care, Feline Optimum Skin & Coat, and Feline Digestive Support.

Customers say
Customers find the animal nutritional supplement effective for cats with dementia and energizing them. They say it works best when they allow it to dissolve in the gravy of the canned food. The supplement tastes good and increases their cat’s appetite, leading to a decrease in howling and pacing.

Fine powder, easy to dissolve
One of my 11 1/2 year old formerly feral cats was showing signs of senility. Had been a very smart cat. Would catch my eye and make chewing motions when he wanted food. Could ring a bell hanging from the door knob when he wanted out. Then he seemed to forget things like that and would look at me as if unsure of what I was. Sometimes he would run from me. I found this product while searching online for senility in cats. Did not expect much but decided it was worth a try. I decided to give it 6 weeks, so I have but the effect was obvious from day one. A busy life has kept me from writing this review until now but there is no question in my mind that he has benefited from Dr. Billâs Feline Cognitive Support. He is more affectionate than ever and it feels like he is thanking me. His brother and sister get a little bit of it too because Tiger has always had trouble clearing the bottom of his bowl so they often finish for him. They were not exhibiting the same problem but Iâm happy with them getting a little too because the price is reasonable and looks like the package will last 2 or 3 months. I do skip it occasionally. This has been one of the best things I have bought from Amazon. It works best when you allow time for it to dissolve in the gravy of the canned food. If they lick the dry powder, they may walk away for awhile. Fortunately, it dissolves quickly (less than a minute).

A recommendation from a person highly skeptical of “natural remedies”
I am very skeptical of any “natural cures.” The modern world is full of snake oil salesman, and everyone swears by something for themselves or for their pets. However, my skepticism was softened by my desperation. I have a 17 year old cat who was pacing endlessly, getting lost in the house, howling, seemingly forgetting who we were and many other horrible symptoms that seem indicative of dementia. He was always a very lazy and affectionate cat who you couldn’t stop from laying on you. He became a different cat entirely. I was desperate to get my old buddy back, so I decided to try this out after researching other people’s cats experiencing similar issues.I can’t say for certain if this supplement was truly the cause, but the difference was night and day. A day or so after feeding him this supplement, it was like he regained lucidity. He recognized us and came up to us to get pets. No more howling and pacing…. I have no idea whether this is true cause and effect or if it’s a combination of factors. All I can conclude is that if your cat is experiencing similar issues, I would 100% recommend this. It’s more than worth a try, and it could just work like it did for me and some of the other reviewers with very similar situations

Kidney disease
I gave this to my cat to help with her black fur turning brown. Within a week she started losing weight age stopped eating. I took her to a vet, and I was told she recently developed kidney disease. I do not know for sure if it was because of this, but the timing is too close to think otherwise. I caught it early, it’s been several months. She’s fine, and the medicated cat food put some weight back on her. I would strongly advise those that are tempted to buy this for the same reason to please discuss it with your vet first.

Noticeable difference for my older cat
My 20 year old cat began yowling frequently. It was as if she was lost at times. We also have a young dog who wants to play with her but as you can imagine she wants no part of it. I thought maybe she had become a little more anxious. Either way, within a few weeks of the powder I noticed a difference. The yowling has been cut back by 90% and she is happy and at ease. Highly recommend.

No idea if it helps
I have no idea whether or not it “helps”.I tried “sprinkling” it on, and “hiding” it by mixing it into my 15-year old cat’s canned food. Four different flavors of canned food. My cat even made a dramatic, mouth wide open, gagging gesture at one attempt before walking away from the dish. However, our big dog doesn’t seem to mind the Dr Bill’s Feline Cognitive Supplement – he licked the cat’s plate clean.

My finicky cats LOVE the taste!!
I just got this product today. It came sooner than expected which is nice.I got it for one kitty in particular b/c I’ve been worried about her cognitive health. It’s almost like people that experience sundowning. As night falls she’ll intermittently holler as she stares up at the ceiling. She’s not having any other issues like forgetting where her box is and things like that but I figured since she’s 14 I would try to nip any cognitive decline issues in the bud.Of course it’s too soon to know any health benefits but I did want to mention that my super finicky hollering kitty LOVES the taste!! I opened the jar and was immediately bummed by the smell. I thought she’d never accept it in her food. Well, I brought the jar over to her and she sniffed it and then looked VERY interested. So, I went and got a little wet food (a type she doesn’t even normally like but was handy), added a half scoop, and mixed it in really well. She ate every last bit!! I was absolutely shocked and very happy!Another one of my kitties walked over to a bag that had put the protection seal into. It still had some powder on it. He shoved his head into the bag and grabbed the seal and began to livk the powder off!! He is also super finicky! My hope is that the other four are going to like it too because they aren’t nearly as fussy. So, if you’re concerned about the taste I’d be willing to bet it won’t be an issue.

I ordered .this for my senior lady cat with dementia to help with howling at night, pacing & aggression. I was a bit apprehensive to try it as I read the one review about gingko causing nosebleed in someone’s cat but upon doing more research I found this only happens if your cat is prone to bleeding issues which mine isn’t. I tried this in the morning so I could monitor her reaction to it. It made her sleep then when she woke it was a major shift she was very calm & cuddly. She cried maybe once at night. She has been taking this since every morning & is back to her sweet self. If you are having issues with howling at night, aggression due to old age, definitely try this.
