I meant to do this review last year but life got in the way…Back in July of 2022 I purchased 2 of these (Dogbed4less XL 1680 Ballistic Heavy Duty Dog Pet Bed External Zipper Duvet Cover – Replacement Cover only, 40X35X4 Inches, Seal Brown)(pic) EXTERNAL bed covers and a 2 pack of these (ehomegoods Waterproof Water Resistant Internal Inner Dog Bed Pillow Zipper Cover Liner Case (40X35X4 INCHES (2PACK))(pic) INTERNAL bed covers for my 2 big, tall, long boys to replace the always being shredded other beds(pic) that I was tired of replacing lol. Best buy I ever did! It’s been over a year & a 1/2 now and they are still in perfect condition! My 9 yo Coonhound Rosco(pic) weighed 99 lbs (sadly he passed away in Aug) and my 15 yo Redbone Razzy(pic) weighs 65 lbs. I adopted both after I fostered them and my at that time 4 other adoptees after fostering them for a rescue group over the years. I personally had 9 dogs at 1 time but down to 3 now due to my health, BUT between the fosters who moved on to their forever homes and my own personal dogs I’ve been through WAY TOO MANY bad dogbeds lol, they usually never made it more than a month or less after having so many scared, frazzled dogs jumping in and out of them and continuous nails digging on them shredding, chewing on them etc. I kept looking for a cover that would stand up to the abuse and found it in these dogbed4less bed covers! I had a queen size 4″ memory foam topper that I cut to the size of the internal cover to make these 2 beds and never been happier with the outcome! I put the memory foam in the internal zippered cover(pic), then put that into the external zippered cover(pic) and all I’ve had to do since then is wipe the outer shell off or vacuum it other than the 1 time they had an “accident” on it and the few times my grandkids spilled their kool-aid on it, I just popped it in the washer then hung it up to dry and put it back on and BOOM back in business! No rips, tears or even straggling threads, the Zipper is totally concealed under the flap(pic) made to hide it, the 1 outer tag(pic) is still there too, meaning my one little chewer (an 8 yo Plott hound rescue) hasn’t been able to rip it off or make any holes in the material like she has on every other bed they’ve had. When the accidents happened very little of the liquid made it through the external cover and what little bit did, didn’t go through the internal cover at all meaning the memory foam never got wet or had to be replaced…money saved! These covers have plenty of room(pic) in them to make the bed as soft or firm as needed, actually stuffed 1 of the covers with extra foam and old pillows to make it softer for Razzy. Between the awesome, rugged material and the totally affordable price you can’t go wrong with these covers! The shipping time was fast and on time. The pictures were taken last year 7/2022 when I unboxed items and made the beds.

Didn’t last an hour
Pros it fit our insert, looked nice, and felt comfortable.Cons : First getting the insert it was kind of a pain because it only zipped on one side. Second our dog had a hole in it in 20 minutes after we put it in his crate.If you don’t mind wrestling with it, or have a dog that chews it would be worth it. If you have a Shepard or similar dog I’d probably avoid wasting your money.

Puppies chewed the corners off
My part lab part golden puppies chewed the corners off this bed. They especially went after the dangling zipper. I tried to mighty mend the corners back together but still has couple holes. Won’t scratch thru when they fluff it up to lay on but they did chew the corners off. Wish the zipper had a removable pull and no visible tag. They also went crazy trying to pull and chew the tag off. They are mostly out of this phase now thank goodness. And I still have the cover. Just wish it was more chew proof on the corners. I may get another one later when they are older. Think it’s just a puppy phase.

I turned this into an amazing dog pool float!
You know how ever single dog pool float out there gets destroyed about 5 mins after your dog tries to climb on it? Either the fabric is too thin, like on the bean bag type, or the blow up ones just burst (for me anyway) so I got two used big joe bean floats, cut them up, filled 4 plastic bags with the beans, and a dog pool float that won’t tear because of this great fabric, and is big enough for my 80lb dog!

This is a great bed cover for the price. Given that dogs can easily chew through bone, you can’t expect any bed cover to be chew proof, which seems to be the problem with most of the bad reviews.It seems to be water proof (hasn’t been tested though), zip seems decent quality and can be tucked away in the cover, solid material, doesn’t have an awful chemical smell, and I have washed it regularly in the three months that I’ve had it and it’s still as good as new.Great to have waterproof, zipped bed covers in this size for my big boy – it can be hard to find things for big dogs!

Bought this as it had good reviews and said it’s tougher material and for “light chewers” would assume that for $100 it would have lasted longer then one week. Puppy chewed through this no problem. Wouldn’t have wasted my money on this as it’s definitely not worth the price
