Raindrops and storm clouds!
I have two cats who steal food and are supposed to be on diets. A third is a very timid semi-feral who waits until the two alpha thieves have had their fill. This puzzle feeder has worked very well for slowing them down and evening out portions. The translucent “raindrops” slide over half dollar sized cutouts where about 12-15 pieces of small kibble fit. The small sliding “cups” can be left empty over the cutouts, as well, or they can be filled with kibble and slid over the cutouts when those have been emptied. Cats have several options for obtaining the food, and mine learned both by experimenting and by observing their buddies’ attempts. All three now share without any snarling, hissing or competition. They are kept busy, fed and not overfed because i can pretty easily control portions using this.Cleaning this is somewhat not ideal as there are spaces that can trap kibble pieces, so a long hot rinse is helpful with an overnight drying time. Not enough of a bother to subtract a star.

Great Distraction for Energetic Cat
My cat has lots of energy and sometimes I just need a distraction. This is great for my cat who is food motivated, smart, and loves to play. The quality is good, it slides well and is a good size for a variety of treats. Plus, the different levels means we can mix it up and keep him entertained.

challenge level depends on the cat!
The Catstages Rainy Day Puzzle is truly a great and well-designed toy. The quality is excellent, and the concept is creative for keeping cats engaged. However, it seems the challenge level depends on the cat!Our clever girl figured it out in just a few seconds and quickly lost interest, while our tabby boy was completely stumped, just staring at it in confusion. Itâs definitely a fun idea, but it might not hold the attention of very smart cats or be accessible enough for less curious ones.Still, itâs a fun way to try out treat puzzles, and it could be perfect for cats with mid-level problem-solving skills. ð

Simple and effective treat puzzle feeder
I bought this for my cat because she was getting bored with the simple slide puzzle treat feeder and ate 10 treats in mere seconds. She loves this puzzle and really enjoys her time finding and eating the treats (mostly the eating of the treats). My cat is very used to the slider puzzles and figured out the raindrop shapes instantly, the white pods took a few more days of figuring out that the treats didn’t just randomly appear, but were actually hiding in the pod. Now with one sweep of her paw, she gets rewarded with a treat, but it takes her a bit longer than her simpler slide puzzle. The only downside is that the large circle is too stiff for her to push/pull, I hope it’ll loosen up with time, but the rest of the puzzle is very much useable. Five meows ðº

Fun brain teaser for the kitty!
We purchased the “Rainy Day” puzzle. I wasn’t sure what to expect, our little girl tends to get bored of things quickly, so I thought she may get bored of this quickly also. But there are different things you can do to increase the level of difficulty, and even putting it in different places as suggested on the packaging (the packaging has some helpful advice!)I started by putting treats in it, to entice her to try it and not give up right away. Now, before I leave for work, I fill a couple of the “hidey holes” with treats and the rest with a few pieces of kibble. I like knowing she has something to keep her entertained while we are at work, when she’s not napping or annoying her brother of course 🙂 She’s getting good at it! But, now we set up a couple of them to be more challenging and leave some of them more simple, to mix it up. Great product! It’s a little bigger than I thought and the design is clever (I can’t believe I didn’t make the connection of the design and the name until I removed it from the box. The tray itself is shaped like a cloud and the blue “teardrop” swivel covers are RAINDROPS… Palm to forehead…duh.)Our boy isn’t too interested in it…he’s done it a couple of times, but is just “meh” about it.But our girl really enjoys it!If you have a curious one who often tries to figure things out, or seems to be bored with their current toys, I highly recommend this puzzle.

Decent but not great
Bought this to help with my cats boredom while I work. She messed around with it a little but lost interest within a day. To be fair sheâs a picky cat. I think this would work well for easily entertained cats. I thought it might work for my girl because sheâs food motivated but even that didnât keep her engaged with it. Thatâs why I donât think itâs a better score. Would likely be good for some cats but not pickier ones.

I have a tuxedo so she’s pretty smart and figured this out pretty quickly. She still loves it, though, and rubs against me constantly while I’m filling it and when I was showing her how it worked. Feels made of good quality parts that slide nicely and provide some fun and enrichment for my cat. If you have an orange cat or other braincell-challenged variety, they might have trouble figuring out that the red bugs release a hidden treat if you slide it back and forth lol

This is the second Cat Stages toy I have bought for my 2 year old cat Otis. The first he can now solve in around a minute and so I wanted something a bit more tricky to keep him entertained. The toy is well made and robust, it has three different types of puzzle – the white bones must be lifted, the green compartments flipped open and the sections underneath are accessed by sliding the green compartments. I like the variety of puzzles and it takes Otis a good 10-15 minutes (so far!) to open it all out. Each compartment has enough room for a number of treats or one larger treat. It is easy to set up and I feel is excellent value for money. All the surfaces are wipe clean and there are no nooks or crannies where dirt or muck could build up. Overall really impressed and Otis has taken to sitting next to it looking at me to make me reset it!
