Excellent, just understand what you’re buying
After buying a Camel+Taupe 80×90 inch blanket ( https://www.amazon.com/Catalonia-Waterproof-Reversible-Furniture-Protector/dp/B084GN77JM/ ) I waited a few months to make this review.TL:DR is that it’s excellent and that I think shoppers might benefit from clarification of what they’re buying.The Review:Have used nightly for 3 months on my bed with an elderly incontinent doggie who sleeps on top of my blankets. She’s had two accidents in that time and each time the urine was trapped on the outer layer and everything underneath was perfectly dry. So 100% score on working as advertised.For me the 80×90 is a great size to cover a USA full-size (aka double) bed with good overhang. Also I sweat a lot in the early morning but this blanket was no worse for it than the comforter it replaced.Also in those 3 months I’ve machine washed it 3 times with great success and no loss to water-proof-ness that I can tell. I used cool water, gentle cycle. The first time I carried the washed wet blanket outside and sun-dried it – it was heavy. The second time I air-dried it in the drier. The third time I dried it in the drier on Low Gentle cycle. In all cases it washed and dried just fine. Of course sun-dry took longest and Low Gentle machine dry was fastest. Machine drying collected 99% of the shed dog hair. I’ll probably keep machine drying on Low Gentle while keeping track of water proofing.The Clarification:Think of this blanket as two lightweight fleece/micro-fiber blankets bonded with an internal sheet of very flexible plastic between. It’s NOT “water repellent” like some reviewers seem to think: liquid does not bead up on TOP of the first layer. The top layer holds liquid and the internal sheet of plastic keeps everything underneath dry. And the outer layers are regular fleece/micro-fiber – they have nothing that repels dog hair, so hair stays there until you clean it.10/10 would buy again(October) Edit to add:After using for an additional 3 months, washed in cool water gentle cycle, dried in the drier on low gentle cycle several times, still looks great works great. 10/10 would buy again

Have used this many, many times now, washing it every time (plus drying) and it doesn’t hold odor at all!!! Normal blankets you need to wash a bunch to get odors out, not this. Have used at home, traveling, and camping. Now I need another one just to have on hand, especially when the need to use is more than a few times.Holds an entire puddle without any mess underneath the blanket!! Super soft and comfy!Perfect size for folding up and using more than once – when the time calls for it. Could fold a third time and still use if needed. We wash after every use, but have used it 3x in a night and have needed to fold over the already wet spots. Absorbs well, but will feel moist to the touch. On cold nights, that kind of sucks.Multiuse!! Pets, newborns or kids eating/drinking on the floor or furniture (moms know), picnic blanket, adult incontinence, or… adult fun time. So many uses!!Doesn’t have a loud plastic crinkle sound, but it does have the protective layer between fabric and it is barely noticeable.Color was on point and matches bedroom decor. To anyone else, it just looks like a normal blanket. Helps with discretion when traveling or camping with others.When not in use for flood control, it would keep heat trapped inside for super cold nights too if used as a top blanket. But, if flood control is needed throughout the night or first thing in the morning, it hasn’t caused any heat or sweating issues to keep under us throughout the night.We love this blanket! No extra care – I would suggest air drying or hang drying, but he put it in the dryer and it holds up really well … so far (maybe 20 or 30x in the dryer to date).

Like plastic wrap for your bed, only friendlier
Ok, so I have had a chance to field test this baby now…. and let me tell you, so far it lives up to my expectations. As an added bonus, I have a alpha female black & tan who has weaponized pee… if I do not live up to HER expectations, she hits me where I sleep, which is no longer a problem. However, I get this thing to PLAY on with other humans! I got the giant one to cover the bed and sides… just in case. Think about it, you have fun, make a mess, take a shower, roll the thing up in a ball and can relax, cuddle and fall asleep in a clean bed. Wonderful! Washing this beast was easy…..but be aware, the people who say it takes forever to dry this thing are spot on! Because I knew it would take forever and I do not want to destroy whatever is keeping it watertight, I dried it on LOW for two hours, taking it out from time to time to make sure it was not twisted. Once it dried, back on the bed it went, it is comfortable to play around on and at least for me, it pretty much stays put…although there are no extreme sexual gymnastics happening here. So far no complaints…from anyone…

Perfect for pets & kids
I bought this so I can cuddle with my pup on my bed but not the hair, slobber, wet paws, doggy treats, etc. It really works. I bought another one for my couch. The plastic liner protects what’s underneath but it’s so thin you don’t know it’s there. Very soft and comfortable. Very well made. I’ve washed it many times and it’s still like new.

Catalonia Waterproof Blanket – Tough to Clean
I ordered this to deal with an incontinent aging cat. It works very well – nothing seeps through. BUT it is difficult to clean. Actually – it washed well in the washer but it comes out saturated and then it takes forever to dry in the dryer. When the weather is good, it works better to dry it outside. Also, the waterproof membrane makes it tough to use on the bed. It gets too hot and sweaty to use as a bedspread or bed sleeping blanket.
