agrees with my dogs just fine
My dogs are getting up in years, and the older they get the more sensitive they seem to be to different foods. This one they seem to enjoy and it’s not giving them any tummy or skin problems like some foods can. I like that it is means to be “lean,” too, because they aren’t as active as they used to be so really need to be on a lower-calorie food. They look forward to eating this. It’s good stuff.

My 16 year old shih Tzu is loving this stuff! Itâs small ranch for him to chew with ease and he eats it right up! Perfect for my little old man and heâs been enjoying it without any yummy issues which is a huge plus for us

Blackwood lean dry dog food is quality American made food for your older dog
Our Chinese Crested mix, Tuly is the most finicky dog weâve ever owned. She will only eat one brand of a refrigerated fresh dog food and getting her to eat that can be a challenge. Iâve tried several brands of dry dog food and she just wonât touch them. I hate prepping and messing around with wet dog food so I thought I would give this chicken based dry food from Blackwood a try. Unfortunately, despite my determination to get her to eat it she just refuses:( I tried mixing it with her wet food and even soaked it in chicken broth, no luck. Please understand our experience with this food is not a fair reflection of its quality or taste, we just have what may be the most finicky dog in the country!

Looks basic â smells boring â but our senior pup likes it
Uniform small discs, pale brown color, fresh but uninteresting scent. But pup gobbles it up! First ingredient Chicken Meal plus ancient grains â our vet approves.

My dog has no love for this
My dog has never “liked” any dry foods I gave him. I had hopes this would be different since it has grains he never had. He does eat it if very hungry, but other than that he sniffs it sometimes and gives me the stink eye and walks away. Is it healthy? Yes! But, evidently it’s not tasty to our boy and neither my husband nor I think it smells nice. The fact we did not care for the aroma is another reason I thought the dog would like it–but no. So this is worth a try and I am glad I got this sized bag vs a bigger one.Sorry Blackwood, he likes your wet food, but not this.

My Dog Loved it!
This Blackwood Senior Dry Dog Food was a great find. I actually asked my veterinarian about this dog food before feeding it to my older senior dog. My veterinarian approved it. My dog loved it. My dog can be picky so I was happy he enjoyed it. It is easy for him to chew and swallow. The aroma is appetizing, and the food looks appealing. It is expensive compared to some dog foods, but I consider my dog family. I do not mind paying more for a food that is high quality and that is good for him. I highly recommend this dog food.

I’ve used many items from Blackwood dog foods and this product is perfectly on par with how great their items are! This bag of dog food has great ingredients as well as real meat in it. My pups just loved it! The ingredients help the dog and is lean and recommended for senior dogs. The pieces aren’t large and it’s a good sized bag that should last a bit. I love that their ingredients are simple yet good enough that my dogs don’t even take a second smell before chowing down!! It’s great and I highly recommend!

The Price Hike Lost Us As A Customer
When the price increased to $2.79 per pound, we found a less expensive option at $1.95 per pound, with the same ingredient quality. We were buying the Blackwood brand for several years, but with their recent price hike, we’re done.
