A real COOL vest
This is the coolest (ha ha) vest! You soak it in cold water for about 5 minutes before putting it on your dog, and it really works and keeps them cool. The only problem I had was using it with a harness – obviously there is no hole for the leash to go through, but I really needed it for taking my easily-overheated Boston in the non-AC’d car on very hot days, and she doesn’t wear a leash inside the car anyway. 5 stars, great product.

Almost perfect
I love the Zippy Paws brand. And this vest is near perfect.My 70lb chocolate lab and I hike in the forest several times a week and trying to keep her visible is important to me. Because she has a deep chest and muscular frame, I am usually guilty of ordering thing too large for her. This time, I measured her twice before ordering (trying to break old habits). Her girth being 31″ I ordered a medium (fits 23″-32″) instead of a large.Upon arrival, I found out that this vest is not only hi-viz, but also a cooling vest. I guess I overlooked that in the description, but living in FL…bonus! So, of course we had to try it on her. What I found was that the belly strap barely fit around her. (See? Changing old habits doesn’t always work out) Even more dissapointing is that the strap is a thick collar material. While this may be strong, it has absolutely NO stretch and I’m afraid if we are hiking a long distance in the heat, it will irritate her belly.Because I love every other aspect of this vest, I decided to replace the belly strap with a softer elastic velcro strap.Bottom line… this a great vest. It’s well made, very hi-viz, seems comfortable (after the belly strap replacement). We’ll test the cooling feature once the weather warms up.

Did not keep my dog cool, but the vest is a nice material as a reflector for nite time walking.
So..here are the details.1.) Sizing:I have 2 dogs.One is 14lbs and the other is 16lbs.The small size fit them perfectly,so if your dog is under 14 lbs, expect the small size to be a little big.The vest has adjustable straps (with ripper material) so u can make it tighter, but if your dog is very small (under 10lbs), the small size will definitely be too big.2.) If u soak this vest in water for longer than 3 min, expect the material inside of the vest to literally blow up, expand and become HEAVY and bulked up with water trapped inside, (and u will NOT be able to wring out the water that is now soaked inside of the expanded material), which will make the vest unusable for that particular walking trip bc the vest will now be too heavy and bulky for your dog to wear.So, make sure to only soak it for about 2 minutes.You can take a water bottle with u while walking,or find a hose somewhere to wet the vest more if u are planning to walk for more than 30 minutes, in order to keep the vest cool.If u accidentally soak the vest for longer than 2 minutes, and it blows up and expands with water that u wont be able to wring out, u will then have to wait for the vest to dry, which might take about 8 hrs.3.) One of my dogs, who HATES wearing anything around his torso, is the one whom I tried this vest on.I did it only bc I assumed that even though he hates to have things initally put on his torso area, I assumed the payoff would be that he would be much more comfortable, temperature wise, once it was actually on him and hopefully keep him cool during our walk.Well, sadly, during the walk, he still panted after about 15 minutes and wanted to roll in the grass, which is what he always does when he starts to get overheated.So, I found a hose nearby and wet the vest some more after 15 minutes, even though it was still wet, and once we got home, about 30 minutes later and I removed the vest, and I felt his torso and it felt very warm to the touch.This indicated to me that this vest did NOT keep him cool at all.In fact, I think it may have made him even more overheated.I may return the vests, but I am thinking about keeping them as reflector vests for the winter time.In the winter, the vests can keep their torsos warmer and they are good relectors for nite time walks.But..this vest did not seem to keep my dog cool at all, which was highly disappointing:(

Not good for small dogs 13 pounds – This Does work for my larger dog who is 70lbs
I bought ZippyPaws Adventure Cooling Safety Vest for him this DID not work well since when you wet it was way too heavy bulky for my Chihuahua and kept sliding off he it was uncomfortable with this over his back. This is when I repurchased The Cool Pup Reflective Cooling.in the size medium it fit and works cooling his chest area… I
