Game changer for long-hair dog
This water bed for dogs makes SUCH a difference for car rides in my vehicle that currently has no AC. Obviously this costs far, far less than getting a new air conditioning system for my car, and while I don’t mind suffering the heat when I have to drive during the day without AC, it’s not fair to inflict that heat on my dog. I put the bag on the floorboards and my dog happily lays on it rather than whining and panting because he’s too hot. He’s visibly more comfortable, and cooler to the touch.To use it, I put the opening under the kitchen tap and push the layers under the opening away from where the water will land, because it can overflow at first if you don’t make a gap for the water to go at the start of filling. Once the water starts moving into the rest of the bag, it’ll open itself up. It’s not exactly the easiest thing to fill–there’s no rigid structure, so it’s just one giant water bag flopped over the edge of the sink and getting heavier as it fills. You have to make sure the water gets into the rest of the bag if it’s draped over the sink edge, by lifting the full side high enough to let the water flow down to the other half. So, it’s a bit fiddly, and then when it’s time to empty it, you have to prop the bag up to let the moisture evaporate (to keep it from growing mold). A bigger opening would really help… but of course, that would also be a bigger area to seal, which introduces a bigger vulnerability into a bag that has to withstand dog paws. I think a strong seal is more important than ease of drying it out.I also take the added step of putting the water bag, full, into the wide, flat drawer in my refrigerator (it fits unfolded; if I didn’t have that drawer, I’d still stick the bag in the fridge but it would have to be folded up). It gets that much colder and keeps my dog cool for that much longer. Really a huge relief and a great solution to not being able to put in AC in my vehicle right now.

Very hard to put water in. No instructions came with item. Water does not stay cool at all. Had to return it.

This cooling mat has a loose lining on the inside. So if you move the mat or the dog moves it in any way the lining will bunch up.

Stays Cool
I got this for my bigger dog who is always hot but she hasn’t seemed to find her way on it. I have tried to lead her to it but she refuses to lie on it. I will say that the water inside stays cool and so the product does what is advertised. There are also no leaks.
