The flea combs get out about 50% of the fleas.. There is a thin groove where the plastic and metal meet and when combing, the flea lands in that groove. I canât get the flea out to squish it before it jumps and gets away. Iâve tried dunking the comb in a bowl of water mixed with Dawn. The flea falls out of the groove and dies, but then the comb is wet and my catâs fur gets wet from the wet comb. This really pisses her off and she runs away, leaving me with painful scratches (Iâm already combing a moving target). Other than that small groove, the combs are sturdy and work in all kinds of fur. I comb my cats everyday, sometimes 2x a day. I have 5 cats, 4 are fosters one adopted me, so Iâve had experience on long, short, fine and thick fur.
