SO GLAD WE FOUND THE MISSING LINK!
As our german short-hair pointer has entered “double digits” in the age department, it has become increasingly obvious that he was starting to have pain, despite him trying to hide it. Our vet recommended glucosamine and Rimadyl, a prescription medication that has been known to be effective pain-relief for most dogs, but can come with some very undesirable side effects. Prior to starting him on a life-long pain medication, I researched natural supplements for dogs with hip & join pain. Missing Link fit the bill based on it’s natural/researched ingredients, price, and positive reviews, and within the first few days I noticed my dog was laying around less, had more energy/drive to play, and could run with me outside again without any signs of pain or ‘wiggly’ hips. We use it as directed based on his weight and he know is back to running a few miles/week with me seemingly-pain free. All he wants to do is run and play now…I actually have to encourage/insist that we walk or take it easy sometimes because I don’t want him to “over-do it”. We are beyond thrilled to have found a natural, affordable supplement that is working for our dog and so is he! You can tell he feels so much better, is happier, and he also loves the taste. One precaution/down-fall of the product is that it gave him kind of a ‘dry cough’ after eating it, as I think little pieces of the dry powder (which I sprinkle on top of his dry dog food) get stuck in his throat. I have tried mixing it with a little liquid/melted coconut or olive oil, but don’t want him to get TOO much fat (using it twice/day) and even a whole tablespoon of the oil doesn’t melt into enough liquid to prevent the issue. I have resorted adding a little water or low sodium chicken-broth to his bowl and mixing the food around with missing link and it has alleviated the issue about 95%, as I occasionally hear him try to ‘clear his throat’. I am going to take him to the vet for a follow up soon, and will update this review if she has any other good suggestions.

    Good quality vitamin
I have used missing link for my dogs for years – both the Skin and Coat and now the Hip and Joint Proviotics. I hope it is as good as the Skin and Coat supplement.

    Worth it!
When I first started sprinkling this on the dogs’ kibs, they turned their noses up at it, tried to eat around it, or just stared at me, as if to say, “What am I s’posed to do with that?” Course these same dogs think dirt and what they theive from the kitty litter bin is a delicacy, so…After a few servings of it (drizzled with extra virgin olive oil for their coats), they went crazy for it. Just had to convince them to see it in a new light, so to speak. I no longer have to bribe them with healthy oils, they officially LOVE this vitamin supplement now and bounce and go all cross-eyed, they get so focused on the crinkling of the bag now.I bought this for my 12 yr old German Shepherd/Malamute rescue (who lived a wild and crazy life and whose arthritic joints like to remind him of his earlier bad decisions) and my 7 yr old GSD/Husky with true hip dysplasia from a young age. :’-( The shorthair just gets jealous of anything the pointy-eared siblings get, so she gets a sprinkle too. So far, I can’t say I’ve seen a major difference, but…*** In my experience, supplements like this are subtle and gradual, so you don’t really notice unless its a major, distinctive signal or you remove the supplement and they then go downhill (or – hopefully not – improve). By a “signal” I mean, if your dog had been dragging his nails on the pavement on your way home from your daily walk and now he’s pushing you to go further and further, and prancing up to the house after. Or suddenly she is jumping into the car on her own again, etcetera. By the latter, I mean that because you are so close to them, you don’t notice the little changes, until you do. If one day you looked in the mirror and realized you had grey hair. Then imagine if you stopped drinking coffee and your hair returned to its natural color (sadly that would never work and was a terrible metaphor, but hopefully it made enough sense). You would realize the coffee had been giving you grey hair. With pets, you don’t often notice those little changes, either improvement or deterioration, until they become BIG changes. But if you reverse the cause, you may well notice the reversed result. Does that make sense? The moral of that is that you probably will NOT see some magical, overnight return to puppyhood in your dog. In fact, you may not even notice a difference at all, but it could absolutely BE THERE. Watch those subtilties in your dog. Do they walk a little longer? Want to chase that ball a few more times? Jump in the truck without a boost again? Stand up a little quicker? Not groan so much when they lay down?THAT is my goal giving my dogs this supplement. And while this is only my 2nd bag, I believe these guys are feeling a bit younger and happier. The eldest is obnoxious about squeaking his toys again (bless his youthfully annoying heart) and the youngest is jumping in the car by herself. Is it the supplement? I don’t know, but I’m sure not going to stop giving it to them now. This product is $$$, but all the ones that are safe and truly have the potential to do what they claim are $$$. I won’t even try anything questionable on these guys. Read the ingredients on the back. The protein and flaxseed and breakdown of goodness in this. Its much better than many comparable products. That is why I bought another bag. I want my dogs to have quality of life straight thru their entire lives. If that means coercing them a bit to eat healthier food and spending more to get it, so be it. They are worth it.

My min pin was having trouble with a luxating patella. He seems to be thriving now on this supplement. With not much issue anymore at all. I mix it I. With some wet food and my dog eats out no problem.

Our old dog seems to have a lot more life and mobility since taking this. On that basis alone it looks like a worthwhile product. As the dog of course cannot confirm this for herself we have to infer this is a benefit since nothing else has changed. A bit surprised to learn it needs to be refrigerated but no real hardship – will be re-ordering.

Our girl had knee surgery at the age of 8 after many years of running with her owners (which she loved). Unfortunately aging and wear and tear got to her and her ligament failed. After her surgery (January 12th, 2021) we were looking for a supplement (Dr. recommended) to help in her healing. We found this product, I read the reviews and decided to take a chance. The product was delivered on Oct 9th 2021, and now, (January 17th, 2022) I am writing this review to say, “wow… what a difference we have noticed”. She’s like a 2 year old again. Playful, active, (no long runs) chases squirrels, runs through the woods, jumps up on rocks (hasn’t done that in months) has power in her back legs and overall is without stiffness and pain. I highly recommend this product and will definitely buy another bag when this one is finished.

This is the first time that I have bought this product through Amazon. Previously I had gotten it at a local pet food store that discontinued it. I was happy to find that I could buy a five pound bag for $150.00 vs the $40/1 lb bag. This stuff is a miracle for my dog, it has given him energy and excellent mobility. He is eight and previously had a TPLO in his right knee. After using this he is no longer limping and the left leg looks solid so no more operations in his future. It has also helped to clear up the dry crusty nose that was a symptom of his lupus. He acts and looks like a much younger dog and this is because of this supplement.
