    Worth every penny
My dogs are on a raw fed diet consisting of mostly ground meats. The meats fit nicely inside the grooves of the feeder. Without the feeder, my dogs are done within 2 mins. With the feeder, they’ve gone a full 10 minutes!

Grooves are a bit deep for a smaller dog but overall a good slow feeder
I have a lot of slow feeders for my 10 lb dog who tends to frantically gulp down his food. He is small, so sometimes has trouble with stuff with deep grooves. I like that this has a large round suction cup on the bottom because it actually sticks to my hardwood floor unlike other slow feeders that have multiple small suction cups and never stick to the floor. The grooves are on the deeper side for him and sometimes he struggles to get the food out, but I’ve also found that putting food around the edges where it’s shallower makes it way easier for him to grab (though probably makes it a little bit too easy to eat fast). I think it would be good to use for wet food though, dry food is just a bit more challenging because he is so small without a lot of tongue strength and the pieces can get jammed easily. It’s $15 as of the time of reviewing and I think that’s a decent price because it feels like good quality, thick and durable material and has a unique pattern, but in an ideal world I’d probably expect to pay closer to $10 for this. However, if you’re looking for a decent and easy slow feeder for a dog that eats a bit too fast, this is a great option. I can’t see it slowing down a dog quite as much as other food/treat puzzles or more complex ones but if you just need to slow them down a little and give them a bit more enrichment, I think this is a decent choice. I’m a tough critic so I probably should be giving this 5 stars but I always think there is room to improve 🙂

Easy to clean and is definitely slowing down a super fast eater.
Our dog Autumn, is a 45lbs ,14 tear old rescue who still eats like she is scrounging for every scrap in the pound. A normal day is 1.5 cups for lunch, and 2 cups for dinner. She normally ate 1.5 cups in about 2-3 mins tops. 1.5 cups is about the max that will fit in the grooves with the size kibble she eats (hydrolyzed Purina pro). Two cups fits pretty well over all without heaping up over the edge. So does it work to slow her down. Yes. I will say her eat time has at least doubled, so for us, that is a definite win. After a few weeks now she takes anywhere from 5 – 8 mins to eat. There are a few times where she just can’t get a few pieces out and she gives up, but on the whole she is able to eat everything in there. We recently combined this with another puzzle toy we picked up at Christmas (Dog tornado). Putting 1 cup in each at dinner ( not every night) definitely slows here down even further and gives her an “easy” puzzle (this bowl) and a harder challenge for the second cup. She gets thise bowl every meal though, but the tornado only a couple times a week.It is super easy to clean under the sink faucet, and if there is anything stuck (or gross cause your dog like to throw water everywhere like Autumn) the included brush gets in the grooves very well and makes that clean up a snap. The suction cup seems to work, but we really don’t use it with her bowl stand. It does get stuck decently to the counter or freezer top that is next to our dog food bins when I and dishing out dinner, so I think it would most likely stay put or lightly shift on the floor if pushed. I do usually need pull it to the edge of the surface to release it before I take it and set it on top of her bowl, which is about the same circumference. the thick silicone it is make from gives the edges a bit a grippy fricken so it hasn’t been moving much thus far. Due to her age, I don’t expect she will just knock it over to get the food out, but if it comes to that it should stick to the flooring just fine.I do also suspect this will work fine for wet food. Albeit cleanup will probably be more often than with kibble. With the price, and benefits we are getting from this bowl, I would definitely say it is worth every penny for us.

Didn’t work for us, but brush is awesome
I’ll start by saying this slow feeder bowl did not work as a stand-alone slow feeder for our Boston Terrier. I want to point out, however, that this is a really high quality feeder bowl, and would work for the right person/pet…The issue for us is that the bowl is extremely shallow. Our dog’s food morsels are only about ¼” wide by ½” long, and they were too large for the grooves in this dish. Which completely defeats the purpose of the slow feeder bowl. If the grooves were wider AND deeper, this bowl would be MUCH more effective. It would be great for very small, toy breeds, however, so it may still have its place on the market. It would also serve as a good licking mat for dogs. Just not great as a slow feeder. The bowl itself is made of very heavy duty silicone, and the bottom of the bowl has a suction cup style base that really secures the bowl to smooth surface. I actually had a hard time getting it unstuck! So, this would be a good insert for a regular bowl, but again, I defer to the paragraph above about the groove size. I’ve included a photo of the slow feeder bowl we ended up using for our dog next to this bowl… you can clearly see the difference.Oddly enough, my favorite thing about this package is the brush that came with it! I would seriously pay top dollar just for the brush alone! It has become one of the most used tools at my kitchen sink! So, I’m very grateful to have that!
