DOG RESCUES: Each month we donate to different rescues throughout the USA. At the end of every month, we tally up the number of leashes and collars sold. Based on the number, we determine how many rescues we can donate to for that month. We donate down our list of rescues until each one has received a donation and then we go back to the top of our list. In special cases, we will donate to rescues out of turn based on their immediate needs.

A great product that supports a great cause
First of all, it’s great knowing my purchase supports a company that cares. Max and Neo makes a donation to a shelter for every product they sell!The leash itself appears to be well made from quality materials. The rope used is thick and sturdy, the reflective tracers are great for visibility during early morning or late evening walks, and I love the selection of vibrant colors. I also appreciate that they use real leather to cover the seams.There were a couple of small issues I noticed, but nothing major enough to knock off a star. First, the clip on the leash was a little stiff when I first opened the package, but this has mostly gone away with use and was never bad enough to affect the functionality of the leash.Second, the hand loop on this leash is about 2-3 inches smaller than on other leashes I own. I like to walk with my hand through the loop, and the opening is a bit snug for me, so someone with larger hands may find it uncomfortable to use that way.Overall though, it is a great product. I highly recommend this leash for medium to large size dogs (it’s probably a little too chunky for anything under 15lbs).

Basic, sturdy leash
The old leash for my active Border Collie mix wore out, and I was seeking a new leash with the same features: leather connectors, heavy-duty rope, and a strong trigger latch. I got all of these in this new leash. The only downside is the length is longer than I typically want (6 feet vs. 4â5 feet). But all I needed to do was tie four knots in the leash at various points, which actually made this new leash even better since now I have large knots to grab when my dog decides to do a sharp turn to chase something. I can see that the knots will also be helpful in the winter when my mittens make it harder to hold the leash. They give me something more to grab. The reflective quality has not been tested since we don’t walk in the dark, at least not during the summer, although I can see that it will be good for darker mornings in the fall and winter. Of course, the fact that they donate to rescue organizations (I have a rescue) makes the purchase even better.

Quality leash; wish it had poop bag ring
This is a quality leash and holds up well when my Malinois/pyrenees dog pulls. I only wish it had a little ring or something to attach a poop bag holder to, but itâs not a deal breaker.

Best leash yet
We bought a similar leash to this one, but the connectors were plastic as opposed to sewn leather and the handle had a foam type wrapping. My dog chewed the plastic connectors to the point that they wouldn’t snap back together again and the foam handle began to tear, so we taped it. A friend saw the state of the old leash and bought us a new flat one. Clearly, others had noticed the sad state of our leash. But I wasn’t a huge fan of the flat leash. We’d done away with them because my dog can easily chew through them. He can’t chew through the rope style. So, once he’d nearly chewed through it, we did more research and found this one. It’s the best! My dog can’t chew through the rope or the sewn leather connectors. And there’s no foam handle…it’s unnecessary anyway. This leash also seems to have a little more give. So far, it’s indestructible and still looks great. Should the years finally wear away at this seemingly indestructible leash, we will buy another. It’s the best.

A very nicely made and very reflective leash
After just about 6 months, our Max and Neo rope leash is perhaps a little dirtier, but otherwise not much worse for wear. My dog hasn’t managed to chew it up, the sturdy leather attachments remain in good shape, and the copious reflective threads are intact and still reflective. I really appreciate the quality of this leash, made even better by the extensive donations the company makes to animal rescues. The only improvement I could envision would be to make a thicker version for heavy pullers (or people who just like a thicker leash), though the current version is definitely sufficient to keep my 65lb. lab/golden leash tugging boy in check. Highly recommended.Update: After almost 3 years I just bought another one. The old leash is still functional, albeit rather faded and not as reflective as it used to be. This is the major reason I replaced it. If you like a rope leash, this one is basically perfect – nicely made and sturdy. Over the past three years it’s gotten sandy, wet with rain and salt water, been wrestled with by my dog and only recently started to get a bit ratty. I never even considered a different leash when the time came for a new one. And remember, when you buy a leash, Max and Neo donates a leash to a rescue organization. Still highly recommended.
